New arrival at SAFE. Due to the fact that this is an open neglect case, I cannot provide many details at this time. This colt was surrendered by his owner to SAFE with encouragement from Animal Control. He is about 8 months old, chestnut with a blanket (I think - need to recheck) and a star, Appaloosa colt. He's in extremely poor condition, with a BCS of about a 1.5-2.0, and is covered with rain rot. He's sweet but not halter broke, although he got a crash course today as he was caught and led to the trailer and out of the trailer into a stall. Currently located at the main facility in Monroe. He came with the name Devil and that name simply won't do, so we'll be renaming him. More info and better photos to come. Photo below was taken prior to rescue.

More simple Japanese names. I know they are a little weird & random, but then you can have something different without repeating. These are male.
Masa- Good & straight forward Shima - Island dweller Yukio - God will nourish Tomi- Red Taro Takai
I like the name Tomi.

We had a little naming contest on the volunteer day on Friday. Our volunteer Julie's husband won the contest but deferred to Julie to pick the name. I can't remember what she said it meant, but its cute, isn't it? It fits him.

His name is perfect Julie. My first thought, was "Yes - that is Aiden." You gave him a powerful name

And he is the sweetest little colt! Little Lola is a spitfire...she's got lots of attitude especially when food is near and her little ears will go flat back (but she doesn't do anything except try to look mean, which is really just cute, but if one of them had to be named Devil, it should have been her!). Aiden on the other hand, is absolutely fascinated by me now that I bring the food, and his eyes follow me everywhere when I am in his stall, and he will come up to me now for pets and nose kisses. He scratched his eye somehow his first night here, and now has to get ointment in his eye three times a day, but I don't even have to halter him, I just walk in and he stands perfectly still when he gets his medicine and then absolutely relishes the praise he gets for being such a good boy. He's a really sweet little colt.

Jaime, do you need weanling halters right now? If so, then maybe some folks can send some. I have a weanling rope halter I could send if you want it.

I always get what I aim for And you heart'n soul is what I came for ...Whatever Lola wants ...Lola gets ...You'll never win I'm irresistible, you fool, Give in...Give in...Give in.(From "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets....") I think Lola is turning out to be a perfect name for this little girl! ;D
