Aiden got his first hoof trimming today. He was so good! He was a little unsure about it and jumped a couple of times but didn't try very hard and by the time we got to the last two feet he was standing there like a perfect angel. His sister Lola (not sure if they are at all related, but I call them siblings) is VERY protective of him and will try to put herself between you and him with her little ears pinned whenever she can. She's not mean at all, just very concerned about protecting her brother. Allison and I also took tons of rain rot scabs off him tonight...he has it so bad! Huge chunks are coming off of him...poor guy.

Aiden is doing very well! He is such a sweet little boy. He still has terrible rain rot and we worked on that some more over the weekend. Both babies got lice dusted again and were wormed on Sunday - today Allison showed me one of the mongo-sized ascarids (big white worms) she found out in their pasture, so they are dumping worms. Poor things.

What do you do when you have a pile of nice soft hay and your belly is full? Why you nap in it, of course!

Well if that isn't what happiness looks like...
I bet they never imagined a life where there would be enough food they could EAT and still have food to lay in. haha ;D

Every time I see these two...be it in person or by photo...I just want to snuggle up with them and take a nap with them! It's good to be them

Aiden and Lola are doing great! The rain rot is ugly but getting better. I took pix today and will post them soon.

How's Holly like the babies, Merle?

Holly doesn't seem too concerned about them. They have called to her when we were walking by. Holly has been busy getting some training in on these nice days.

Aiden is doing very good. He still looks pretty rough with the rain rot coming off and the oil in the medicine on his coat. He is gaining and growing. The blanket is about 4" too small now. He leads and stands for his blanket to go on and off. He is very sweet!

Merle, I probably have another blanket here that will work for him.

Does anyone have newer pictures of both Aiden & Lola? I'd like to put them up on my file cabinet at work. I have pictures of several Elledge horses and Whisper (before and after for all of them) and people come by to see if I have any pictures of new horses. Unfortunately this hasn't led to donations, but at least spreads the word a bit.
