OK- change here - I think he may be a "BLACK" silver. The website says that chestnuts and sorrels carry the gene, but it doesn't affect their body color - "Silver Chestnut" is just the term I've heard used, as that's what they LOOK like, but apparently what I've heard folks call a silver chestnut, is actually a black silver. And he has produced blacks, right? (at least black based appaloosas)

Had to go find his file, but I think you maybe right. Appears to me, over 50-75 % of his ancestry is black. Alot of QH thrown in,also. So, Im filling out the UC Davis form, they dont specify "black" in a category, I picked the " silver" one...(.??) Also found his CBER ad with photo, and he is wearing his mask. No where in the ad do they mention that he is blind.....sigh Listed as a "riding" type horse, but at least they admit they dont have any information to say he has been ridden... Buckwheat squealed at him tonight ( shes 26, geeze put it to rest !!!) and Mort just stood there. I think I heard him sigh, in annoyance ;D Jumping back in, I left here and was reading the CL ads , and found this one.....after talking abt Morphs strange color coloration.. This is abt the color/ not promoting this ad for any reason other and the color.....!!!! portland.craigslist.org/clk/grd/1079887219.html

Hi - I'm Susan - 'Nelli's (AKA Benelli/Tracey) new owner. She was given to me August 2008. At this time, she is a "pasture ornament" but hopefully this spring/summer will bring changes to that. She has come a long way since she got here (western South Dakota, late 2005) but has a lot further to go. I didn't see her when she was unloaded but I did the first time she was brought out of her stall and it's was a wild leap to the other side of the aisle. While she did show USDF In Hand in 2006, she's not 'saddle broke' at all.
Any info about her would be appreciated - already have a lot but anyone else please. Be happy to answer any questions, if I can, about her time since she left the NW.

Trillium posted some of these before, but I HAVE to share this. This is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen! Mort has an itchy spot right up under his leg and will actually lift his leg and let you scratch it! And in this one, it was too slippery for him to lift his leg, but you can see how he stretches his neck WAY out! And a nice side shot. What a handsome boy! And a mutual grooming session with Lark. They must have had itchy manes

LMAO! That thought occurred to me also when I downloaded the picture. How that might not look so good for Peggy.....
But yes, all we're doing is scratching his itchy spot!

Knowing Peggy's sense of humor, I bet she will think it is just as hilarious.

Brought back memories of when I was a 911 dispatcher...One of the expressions I used for " I cant believe she sayd that value " was..... No matter what it is, or where it is..... It is always in the wrist.......... Kinda like, "he was kinda cockey !" Yea, and his butt wasnt bad either....!" Had a great time, but now I have to go back to my room.... nite nite

I was just telling LynnM on Sunday when she came out to my place, that my mare does the exact same thing! It really startled me the first time she did it! Funny, I thought she was one-of-a-kind.
