Morpheous, the poor arab-appy cross gelding is once again in dire straits. He is in Corvallis and if he does not find a home immediatly, he will go to the Eugene aution tomorrow. For those of you unfamiliar with his story, it is a long and sad one. He was purchased from CBER, then abandoned at a boarding facility. Then bought again and moved to California. Were he was abandoned again. The last place he was can not keep him and had arranged to have him move to Montana to a new home. Only to have that fall through in transport. He is now in Corvallis and if a new home is not found will be sent to the Eugene aution in the morning. This just breaks my heart as I have always been drawn to him since the first day I saw him. (It must of been the arab in him) I will take him as an act of desperation to keep him from going to the auction. Can you imagine what will happen to him there? BUT I do not need another horse. Can anyone help him. I will go get him and take him to anyone in the Portland area. Free of charge, if someone can take him. He has a sight problem, probably due to his appy breeding, and is partially blind. Anyone out there willing to take on a big project? Maybe in time there would be room for him at Rolling Dog Ranch.

oh jeeze, wish there was something I could do to help. Why isn't he going back to the lady in CA rather than to the auction? What about marilyn? I thought she was supporting this boy at blazin' saddle's???

I don't have the time or the space to explain the whys in this story. And I think all the people who promised to help blazin did not follow through. All I do know though, is that it would not be a good thing for a partially blind horse to be going to auction. Who do you think is going to buy him?? I would rather see him put to sleep than endure another year like the year he has just had. I feel so sorry for him, it breaks my heart.

Is there a contact for this poor horse.
Stories like these make me especially thankful to have found SAFE, a rescue organization that follows up on their placed horses and does their best to make sure they are in excellent homes for life. You guys are the best!

I was going to send my $25 sponsorship money to Blazin in March but decided instead to spend $250 on two burros from the BLM facility in Nevada that I donated to Patty Martin. As I understand it, I was the only person who said I would sponsor him each month. All the others who donated toward his care in February did it as a one time donation only. There were other reasons why I did not send the money as well but will not go into them. I can't give him a permanent home because my husband says we have enough horses (5). I wish I could. Even if my husband said yes, the cost of transportation would be huge because I live in southern CA. If there is anything I can do to help secure a home for him in that area, please let me know.

This just makes me sick. When he first appeared at CBER, people were practically fighting over him because of his looks. I know because I checked references for the applications for him. Then it was found that he is going blind and one dumps him after another. These are the same people that swear up and down that they are rescuers and will give horses their "forever homes". Or are they really just looking for really nice riding horses for cheap? Which is it?

From what I understand, he is totally blind and running into things. Unless a facility that is specifically set up for blind horses will take him, I think the kindest thing to do would be to put him to sleep. The person who failed him is the breeder who dumped him...not anyone else. Other people have put more effort and money into this horse than the person who profited from him during his breeding career. Sad.

I agree... this boy should be put to sleep rather than "re-rescued" every couple of months. A sad situation all the way around...

I have Morph at my house. I left at 6 am to drive to Corvallis to get him. (But was awake since 4am worring about him )He is not totally blind and is doing ok in my small paddock and stall that we built when Teddie came here. It is made from 3 inch round posts as cross boards, so he can see them well. He can not see wire fencing very well. He will be safe for now. I am going to contact Rolling Dog and see if there is space for him. There have been several people who want to foster him. I want him to find a FOREVER home. You can be assured he will not leave here unless he has a better place to go. I have always loved this horse, partially because of his color, but also because he is part arab too. I could not stand the thought of him going to the auction. He is actually very calm. His worse habit is jerking his head up to find what he hears with his ears. He found his hay mush and ate it. I will post some pictures later. My 6 hour trip but a slight kink in my Mothers Day BBQ, but it was something I felt compelled to do. I hope my company will ignore my messy house. But Morph was more important than vacumning and dusting.

Thank you for stepping up and securing his safety and future. I have followed this story from the lot and this is a case for sure of a horse being "saved" and yet only ending up in worse and worse circumstances. Thank you for breaking the cycle.

Here is my post on TW about it. To ALL, I just got off the phone with Alayne @ Rolling Dog Ranch. She is saddened once again that so many people have failed this horse. At this time she CANNOT take him in. She has 33 horses of her own to care for. (**deleted my snip to tockita for the safe bb**)
She said she is gonna do some thinking and searching to see if she can find someone to take him forever. And she will email me if she finds someone. She thanked me for calling and checking with her. She said she appreciates that we have all kept them in mind.
TinaI had spoken to her months ago about him, and so I thought I would call her again about him this morning. She said she will keep him in mind. But at this time she cannot take him. Is there anything we can help you with? Tina
