Laura picked up Titan (a.k.a. Peanut) this morning - he is such a lucky guy to have found such a wonderful home! Laura has emailed pictures of him after he arrived at her place (hopefully Jaime can post them). It sounds like he is settling in quite well and even whinnied for Laura this afternoon! Congratulations to Laura and Titan! A perfect match!

Below is a note I received tonight from Titan's new mom (Laura)! Sounds like a great match! Titan is doing great! He is especially fond of the TB mare that is in the pasture east of his. They chat over the fence line, and keep each other company. Yesterday when I went out to take him for a walk, he trotted off twice while I just walked in the pasture. Then he stopped and walked up to me. Today when I went out, there was no trotting off He just stood in place as I zig zagged toward him, then away from him (trying to draw him off the fence line). It worked, and he came right up to me. He almost put the halter on himself (which was really cool.) While we were on our walk (on our property), a loud vehicle went by and Titan spooked. It was all done 'in place', which I prefer over having a horse trying to jump into my pocket. Titan is soooooooooo sweet! My husband really likes him, as do the boarders that have met him so far. And I, of course, adore him His appetite is very good and he loves his mushy food. He always takes a bite of mush, and then a bite of hay. The first two times he ate (dinner/breakfast) I really watched over him - just because I know he's had those two choke episodes. He's eating slowly, and his pelleted food is soaked so thoroughly that I think we'll be just fine. I will tell him you said hello, and give him a big kiss on the nose for you.

I thought I'd share a portrait of Titan that my friend Cindy painted. She does her work on virtually any canvas you can think of. Titan's portrait is painted on a slice of deer antler. It is approx 1"x3/4", and is 1/8" thick. There is now a gold link through the top of it, and it hangs on a chain on my rearview mirror. Hopefully this picture comes through: Here is Cindy's website address in case anyone would like portrait work done. The little pendants run between $29-$45 typically, just depends on what you want. She is a great gal! www.pavilionpony.com/

Hey Laura, Thanks for posting the portrait of Titan/Peanut. Cindy does a wonderful job. He is such a special guy and so lucky that you have given him a forever home. It is so clear to me how much you love him! Looking forward to seeing some new pictures of him as his training progresses. Kiss his muzzle from all of us!!!

So what's the latest on the Titan Peanut? Have you started him under saddle at all yet? How's he doing with his friend Baby?
It's been too long! Update us, please?

I apologize for not keeping you all better informed about Titan (Peanut). I’ll try to catch everyone up, so bear with me. Titan and Baby became very close friends. Her owners recently moved her to a facility in Duvall. So Titan has spent time with another mare, and a gelding that are at our place. He is a sweet horse that makes friends very quickly (both horse and human friends).
Before Titan came to live with us, we fostered an aggressive Palomino (Reno). After 9 months with us Reno made significant changes – miraculous changes. We adopted Reno out mid-February. After being gone six weeks, Reno became aggressive with his new owner – so we took him back. I posted a message on the board about Reno about a month ago (or more).
Due to the time I knew I would need to spend with Reno, I offered to let my friend Susan come out and spend time with Titan. I just couldn’t put Titan on the backburner – he deserves so much more than that. Susan had a bad riding accident last year, and I knew it would do her good to be around a sweet horse to help gain back her confidence. Titan won her over within moments of their meeting. She has been out to my house (making trips that are out of her way), several times a week to see Titan. She’s ridden him here at my place numerous times, and last weekend took him out on a trail ride. I don’t know who is happier – Susan or Titan. To see Susan grinning from ear to ear tells me that she is just on Cloud 9.
It has quickly become obvious that Titan adores Susan, as much as she adores him. I asked SAFE to allow Susan to adopt Titan from me. I just love him too much to make him wait for me. At any rate, we started the adoption process – Susan has had her site inspection, and we are down to finishing up a few details.
Although this idea of Susan and Titan started because of the time I knew I’d be spending with Reno, we recently had to put him down. It was a very hard decision to make, but I couldn’t take a chance on him hurting anyone else – and he became more dangerous as days went by. I can only hope that Reno has finally found the peace that seemed to have escaped him all his life.
I feel it is only fair to Susan and Titan to allow the adoption to continue. Both are very dear to me, and it’s obvious that they care a great deal for each other. I’ll post my favorite picture of Susan and Titan. I really want to thank everyone at SAFE for trusting me with Titan… he is truly a one in a million horse. It has been an honor to have him in my life.
