One of Titan's sponsors came out and met him yesterday. They brought him a bucket of goodies (a leadline, a brush, a sponge) and spent some time with him. Regular work appears to be the key for him, because he was totally quiet in the crossties while we brushed him, even with two big dogs running and playing next to him. We turned him out in the arena and he rolled and rolled and then showed off some of his amazing athletic maneuvers. They took some pictures of him, as soon as they send them to me I will post them.

I totally agree. He will need consistent handling and attention, he is not one that can sit for a while and then be taken out and expected to perform (unlike the worth-his-weight-in-gold Slam and be great. His potential is unlimited and whoever gets him is getting a goldmine.

Titan had another choke episode. Unfortunately while it probably happened last night, I didn't catch it until this morning. He was not in distress but clearly choking and it looks like he didn't get far into his dinner before choking. I had just bought him some orchard grass pellets to add to his grain because he has lost a little weight recently, and while I did soak it, he still choked. After talking to Lisa and Hannah this morning it sounds like they have had the same problems with the brand of orchard grass pellets from Del's where it takes hours to fluff up. Anyway, the choke resolved very easily after Hannah tubed him and he seems just fine now. I will buy him some different hay pellets and make sure everything soaks for a long time before he has it to ensure it is completely soft. Poor Titan.

Jaime, having experienced choke multiple times myself, I always err on the side of too sloppy. I soak hay pellets 3-6 hours and beet pulp 6-24 hours. And warm water can fluff pellets quicker. And when in doubt, stick your hand in the bucket and squeeze a handful to make sure there are no un-softened pellets. Add more water right before feeding, too. Pain in the you-know-what, but usually helps. Of course, it would be nice if they would just stop wolfing down the feed, too!. Oh, and no bits of carrots or apples for the chokers. Not worth the risk, even if they are chopped into itty bitty pieces!

Probably didn't help that I spilled most of the water on my pants while I was carrying the pan to his paddock.

He is so gorgeous! I wish I could adopt him, but unfortunately I'm not able to right now. Great job of bringing him along! I hope he finds a great home soon!

Titan is such a doll. He is much more comfortable with people than he was when SAFE first got him and he likes his neck scratched. I hope he finds his forever home soon!

That's great news! I am happy he found his special person, and he's looking so much better. He is losing that potty "no one has dewormed me in forever" belly that he came with.
