Ahhhh yes these two will fulfil my "empty nest" nicely Thanks SAFE for helping animal control out on these two. One of the main reasons that Animal Control does not act on these cases is lack of ability to house the animals while litigation is sorted out. It is a very real possibility that this woman could get these horses back if she cleans up her act so do not get too attached. I will cross my fingers that they will end up in a better home than that.....

How about Cortez for his name (Cortez brought Palominos to America in 1519 from Queen Isabella's stable)

He's cute!
but yes, it doesn't seem like he's "bad enough" for the seizure to be permanent...of course I don't know the whole story. Hopefully they can keep him away from her.

That being said KUDOS TO ANIMAL CONTROL in this case!!!!!!! It is very difficult to take this many horses and they did an excellent job working with local rescues to make it happen. Horses do not get removed unless the owner has been given MANY chances to clean up the issues they have been cited for- so there is hope this will stick. I am happy to throw in my support to the effort! Thanks to SAFE for letting me be a part of this

From my understanding, the horses (23 total, including several stallions that were locked in a barn and had obviously been in there for a very long time) were living in, literally a junkyard. The AC officer used a seldom-exercised law that states that livestock must be kept in safe conditions. I believe AC had been out there multiple times in the past year and she had been ordered repeatedly to clean the place up and failed to do so, so that was the basis for the siezure. Now that they have the horses (and many were in far worse shape), neglect charges are being added. That's all I know right now.

Palomino (Cortez?) has such a kind eye and he is quite pretty; still is kind of skittish. I helped Jaime lice dust the boys on Saturday and Rusty seemed to like the 'massage' but Palomino was not so relaxed with us touching him. Oooo, but he wants to be loved so badly!!
