I like the three age groups. Most zone shows do a youth division ages up to 18, then 18-39 and 40 and over. That works well too!

I am hoping to firm up a judge today. I have been in communication with the judge that you gave me the contact info for, Kim. Thanks What about doing an Open Novice division for English and Western? In addition to the 14 and under and 15 and up? That would be good for beginners of all ages and those with little show experience.

Question - I can't remember what we did last time on this but is it ok for stallions to be shown by those 18+? Someone told me Bridle Trails can be funny about that. I'd like to bring Cecil, of course, and have two friends who'd also like to bring their (both very quiet) green stallions to school. I'd just be doing w-t colored horse pleasure and eq with him, so I'm free again to ride whatever in the other classes if you guys need riders for SAFE foster horses. Maybe if we think about this earlier, I can even ride something once or twice before I show it this time ROTFL. I know last year was kind of amusing for the spectators but some preparation this time would probably not be a bad idea, LOL!

Oh, Cat, you were awesome with Heidi! I would like to have (assuming they aren't placed) Cedar, Lil Miss, Whiskey and Deeds for sure be in the rescue classes. The two TB mares would only do W/T but Deeds and Whiskey could do w/t/c. What do you think? Maybe even bring some of the SAFE-Assist horses? Like Logan....

I was thinking of coming to the show this year seeing how its not a far drive and would be a good experience for my little Fancy horse.
Some quick (stupid I'm sure) questions.
The only show I've ever been in was a schooling show with my TWH mare when I was 10 yrs old (20 yrs ago...)
So, a quick education would help.
What is the difference between halter and showmanship? How about English pleasure and equitation? What is Western Stock Seat equitation?
What are you judged on?

Showmanship is the handling of the horse. English pleasure is about the horse (good consistent gaits, obedience - you are trying to convey a pleasure to ride) Equitation is about how correct the rider's position is in all aspects of the ride.

Oooo, Cat, you will LOVE Lil Miss, she is a doll! Does anyone have any contact info for another judge, the one I have been trying for is difficult to get ahold of.

So is Western Pleasure and Stock Seat Equitation the same except one they judge the horse and the other the rider? Do horses move a bit faster in Stock Seat Equitation or is it the same SLOW pace as western pleasure?

Regarding judges: You may want to go to one of the zone websites. I am familiar with the folks of the Puget Sound Zone. You can probably get the names of several of the judges they regularly use by looking at their show schedules. I know of several more. Please PM me if you need some additional names!

Technically it's still slow but remember, the rescue classes are easier...you won't be up against "professional" show horses in those.

I can be a catch rider too for SAFE horses! Lady will be in the "open" divisions, WTC eq/pleasure/hack, but I would be able to ride in any other classes! I can promise a good ride
