If we do any over fences classes, we should have hunter hack, cross-rail, 2 foot and 2'6", equitation and pleasure.

If I remember correctly, trails in hand had a few people that signed up, but I think only two of them actually showed up to do the course. The third went through it because I talked her into it since she had paid for the whole day for everything.

So, maybe just do mounted trail class? With age divisions?

That is my personal opinion, yes. I would definitely still keep the 8 & under leadline though. The kids got to be saddled up and their parents just led them. There were some really proud little kids on their ponies!
eta: Maybe if it was set up to have under 18 mounted (so ages 9-18) and over 18 mounted in addition to 8 & under leadline? Or something to that effect

If we do any over fences classes, we should have hunter hack, cross-rail, 2 foot and 2'6", equitation and pleasure. I think I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I should mention it again. Most companies that provide insurance for these shows raise the price significantly if you have any over fences classes. So you will probably want to check into this before you add over fences classes to the list.

I don't know about Bellevue's driving crowd but you may want to consider adding a driving class or two. I think it seems like there are a lot of miniatures up that way.

Do the over-the-hill classes refer to the horse or to the rider?

I really like the walk trot classes, great for green riders or horses in training, also the over the hill! Did you consider a gaited, two or three gait class. Also, do the showgrounds have stalls available to haul in the night before the show? I'm sure it must have said on their website, but I can't remember at the moment. Is the required attire the same as any zone or B-system show (hat, chaps etc)? It looked from the photos from last year that there was a variety of attire. Any word on judges yet?

One other suggestion.....you may want to hold the gaming classes at the very end of the day. That way those who do not game, don't need to wait for those classes to be over and can get started on their drive home.
Gaming classes can be hard on the footing also and require a considerable amount of set up and dismantling. I realize trail takes a lot of time to set up and take down also, but your performance riders may be more apt to ride trail than barrels etc., and might appreciate being done and not having to wait.
The gamers might also appreciate knowing they are at the end so they can haul in later in the day and not have to wait all day for the other classes to be over with.

I wasnt at the event last year, but I believe they were running the trail classes at the same time as performance, so riders could do their trail class whenever they had a break

That's correct...we have trails set up in a different arena, and riders can go through it whenever they want to (within reason, we break for lunch, etc.)

For that matter, I had lunch brought over to me because I had a pretty large influx of people come in for trails when the main arena shut down. I'm pretty accommodating with trails. There were very few break periods for me last year except when the venue staff came in to water it down, etc.

Mymercedes - At the last show the gamers were last. And a total blast to watch! Those girls can RIDE!
The show is casual, no formal show clothes required, just boots with the heel and helmets for those under 18. I wore my breeches, boots and a nice polo shirt.
