Did we ever consider having a gaited class (two gait?) Or did it get ruled out? I just thought having one may be kind of fun for those of us with gaited horses, but maybe there aren't enough of us who have them to make it worth it.

We can only attend if there are walk trot classes, our horses are not ready for canter yet We may also bring minis if there are driving classes added and they all do halter, in hand classes etc. If you want a demo of mini hunter (in hand but sooooo cute), I can bring my mismatched practice jumps and demo just about anywhere on the grounds. They don't need much room.

I like the idea of having you do a demo with the minis, Alyssa! Let's talk about that. And yes, there will definitely be walk-trot classes!!

Another vote for walk-trot pleasure classes...hopefully a couple of them, like an open, color and non color. And a separate rescue horse walk-trot, of course!
Adding trot-only speed classes could be a lot of fun - not everybody has the guts to run, but a lot of people will extended trot. You get a 5 second penalty for every break to a canter, disqualified if you break three times.

Should we combine walk/trot english and western or keep them separate? I like the idea of the age being open for walk/trot classes.

as Cat suggests, we should add Walk/Trot Pleasure classes for each of the horse divisions (color, non color, rescue). last year, Walk/Trot was combined English and Western. Maybe we should see what the judge recommends.

I really think E and W should be separate. It's too hard to judge them together - totally different standard for how they should be going.
Also, if you do them separately, someone can ride in both if they have a greenie who needs the experience.

So that would mean we would have:
Walk/Trot English Pleasure, Color Horse Walk/Trot English Pleasure, Non-Color Horse Walk/Trot English Pleasure, Rescue Horse
Walk/Trot English Equitation, 14 & under Walk/Trot English Equitation, 15 & above
Walk/Trot Western Pleasure, Color Horse Walk/Trot Western Pleasure, Non-Color Horse Walk/Trot Western Pleasure, Rescue Horse
Walk/Trot Western Equitation, 14 & under Walk/Trot Western Equitation, 15 & above
And then an overall Walk/Trot High Point Trophy!
On the subject of age divisions, last year we had 14 & under, 15-21, and 22 & above. There were not a lot of participants in the 15-21 age group, so maybe we should think about just having 2 age divisions....what do you think? We can add more classes that way while keeping the day at a reasonable length.

I like the idea of 2 age divisions, but also two only two equine divisions: Rescue and non-rescue. What about nixing Halter and just having Showmanship?

I like the idea of two age divisions, and I think there should be a walk trot pleasure for each age division, and possibly a color and non color walk trot in each age division. I really really think we should keep halter AND showmanship, for those of us whose horses may not be quite as skilled in the areas of pivots yet. I know I was planning to come just for the halter.

We can add more classes that way while keeping the day at a reasonable length. I think you'll have big classes with all of those walk-trots...I really do think you'll fill them, no problem. I do agree with combining those age divisions...I'd leave 14 and under and then do 15+...most 15 and 16 year olds can not only ride with the adults but will beat us, LOL.

Maybe break the ages our 14 and under, 15-34 and then 35+? That give at least one more shot for the oldies to win something.
