Yippee! I think I found a *good* trainer to come work with Lady. I knew her when I was in 4H when I was about 6yrs old. She apparently is quite the expirenced horse person now (although she was good back then too) and trains a lot of horses and will ride and work with anything. So we are going to set up a meet and greet for her and Lady and see how things go. If everything goes as hoped, Ill have a riding horse by Summer of '07!! Woohoo!!

Trainer is coming on Thursday to meet Lady. We will see! I took Lady walking down the dirt road today, and she met the Turkeys and the 2 horses. Boy were they all excited! The horses were an Arab and a Tb cross (looks like a warmblood) and then both came trotting up to the fence to greet Lady. She was VERY happy to see them. She just looked at them and seemed happy to be there. I didnt let them get too close, just incase one of them decided to throw a fit . I think Ill start taking Lady out everyday, just to explore and get used to things. When I put Lady back in her pasture she stood by the gate like "hey I was having fun!". Then she turned around and just about flew (she is FAST!) down the pasture and Apollo (the golden retriever) came running down too and they chased eachother around.

I took Lady to the neighbors on Monday to work her in their "Square Pen". It was really effective and Lady did really well. We are going to start building a temporary roundpen ASAP. Trainer is out Tommorw! Yippee! I put Ladys blanket on last night, took a few minutes, she was all jumpy, but nothing super duper bad. After it was all clipped and on she couldve cared less.

Brought Lady in today and took her blanket off. She put on quite the "im scared of you, get away from me" act. She got jumpy about me taking it off and so moved off and tried running circles to get away from me (I was holding onto her lead). I let her go around as much as she wanted...fine by me if she wants to run. I watched her legs...she was defineatly thinking about kicking out. When she finally settled down I unclipped the back part to her legs, and her back leg flinched....in a "Im warning you" way. Dang horse. If she had tried to kick me, I would've whooped her (as in run in circles and back up and sidepass until your finished)...NO horse is allowed to do that and get away with it. Anyways...she didnt kick so all is well. Trainer didnt make it out today cause its pouring 100 pound buckets out here. You would think I am boarding at a fish pond instead of a horse barn . If I can come up with the money I am planning to send her out for some training. Maybe...just maybe....

past couple days Lady has been a real booger. Just totally standoffish. So I decided to turn the tables on her. The two horses Indy and Flame were moved back there, so I went up to THEM with a pocket full of treats, not to Lady. Lady watched as I gave Flame his apple (who is so insanly friendly, he will follow you up and down the fence line even if you dont have something) and then all of a sudden...BOOM instant pocket pony. Lady came right up and looked at me like "wait a minute, this is MY person, not yours, Im Angies horse remember??!" So after the three had raided my pocket empty I went up to get a couple more treats and Lady followed me all the way up to the barn, not missing a step, right at my side. When I came back down...Lady took a running headstart, and when I got down there she did not want me feeding those other horses anymore! I was her person now. LOL it was too funny. I gave her an apple and then she gave in and let me give both Indy and Flame some too. She is super happy to have them there, she stands right by the fenceline the whole day talking with them. They dont seem to mind her either . Here are some pictures of the day. NOTE: Lady is the National All Time Champ Roller, she looks like a quad-colored paint instead of a tri-color one .

She sure is . She LOVES Indy (the big brown one in the last photo). Indy has the same kind of backround as Lady and has her attitude too. Figures, they are like two peas in a pod. Flame...the only boy, is kinda left out, but as long as there is something around him he is just fine.

Lady is Miss Supreme at picking up her feet now. All I have to do is say "hoof Lady" (dont even have to pull on her) and she automactically lifts it up. Any one of them. She used to be a pill about it (I dont blame her, she was scared and had never been trimmed before)...She would only let me have one out of the four and then she would want it back after a few seconds. Dont even think about the back ones! She would kick out. Now she quietly lifts them up and holds them there for me. No trouble, no problems.
I have been working her in the square pen. Tonight I threw the saddle on her, cinched her up (she was perfecto for all of it) and asked her to move out...She kept hinting like "I am going to buck, I am going to BUCK!!" she would put her head low and skwunch her back up, but never actually did it. After a while she settled. I am thinking about calling the Horse Chiro out, cause Lady rolls a lot and may have landed on a rock one of the times and she also runs all out when we let her out in the morning and may have done something while doing that too. Who knows. She have never tried to pull the fake bucking thing before.

Thanks! I got an awesome Carhartt Jacket yesterday and so now all I need to wear is that, I no longer look like a poof ball. Here is a pic of lady this morning running down to the bottom of the pasture to the neighbors horses.
