Actually, I don't mind the PJs as much as I mind the missing helmet. I would prefer a promise that the next time you get on her you won't be minus a hard hat. I am proud of you though, you look great up there!

4 or 5 years ago I got bucked off a 4yr old paint gelding (saumersaulted off the otherside) he bolted while I was mounting and I broke my finger and got a VERY mild concussion, big pride bruise and some minor cuts and scrapes and some major bruising. I rode Chance 2 sundays ago with a friend from sunday and he decided to pull the whole ** OMG My SHADOW... ITS DR. SHADOW HERE TO KILL ME!!! RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** Of course he flew 4 yards left and I stayed on 0. I had no helmet and I almost broke my neck. I sprained my neck funny thing though, my head NEVER hit the ground, my shoulders hit first which jammed my neck and spine. It was 1ft deep summer fallow so I didnt get bruises or anything but my neck was pretty bad sight, I couldnt lift it off my pillow (and I have a hard dorm bed :S) Anyways, lesson learned youd think lol.

It took me a while to pick out the helmet I wanted . I love the color blue, so that was the one. My Dad has really helped me a lot. He lets Lady out every morning (I am at school at 6am) and I think she has turned him into a horse lover to be honest ;D. Lady has a certain quality about her that makes anyone just happy to be around her . Thank You!!

Wow Angie, I thought it was going to be some time before she would let you on, she really loves being with you. How cool that things are moving along so well. You should write a short story book about your experiences with Lady and how much you love her. It would make a great childrens book. You could put all the pictures of you and Lady in it step by step. So many girls never have their horsey dreams come true. Your relationship is very special and fun to watch. Keep up the good bonding and take lots of pictures

Short story book! Wouldnt that be neat. I would love to write Ladys story . Well here is a Lady update: I got out there today and saddled her up. I put the usual grain in her bucket so she could eat while I was testing getting on her. I got on her WITH THE SADDLE on WOOHOO!!! After she finished her grain my dad led me and her around in the little corral as usual and then I asked if I could try it without the lead. So my dad unclipped it and I walked her around and did some turning and backing and whoaing. She is pretty good at it, but still very beggining. And here is the exciting part. We went out into the big 3 acre pasture (my dad was leading now). She was fine, but on the way back something scared her and she started doing large crowhops. I jumped off of her, and being the klutz I am, I didnt land on my feet. Whoops. I landed on my side instead . My dad was holding onto her this whole time (thank god for that!) and so once all was calm (took less than a minute) I sat down for about 5 seconds to catch my breath and make sure everyone was still alive . Then I got back up and got back on. We walked up to the small corral and then my dad unclipped the lead again and we rode in there a little more. We ended on a good note and put her away. But some good things- ~She didnt take off, and didnt full on buck just big crowhops. ~When I got back on I used the stirrup (usually when I put my foot in the stirrup she freaks) and she was fine. ~She rides in the corral well, she is learning but does try very hard. SO my goal is to work with her in the corral for now. I really have no idea what scared her, who knows, it could have been anything. Once she is really comfortable in the corral we will take her out again and see how she does. Here are some pics of the day (fortanatly the camera was put away by the crowhopping episode, so you all dont have to see my dweebish attempt to jump out of the saddle!) I was looking through all of Lady's pics...anyone think she has gained weight???

Trust me, I've been doing this for longer than you've been alive and I'd stay in the corral for at least a month! That's just being smart. You want to make sure you have a solid WHOA before you go into a larger area. She sounds like she's doing very well!

LOL. Yeah nothing like learning the hard way! I am just glad so far this is the worst she has attempted and it was very short lived. I still am amazed by this horse though! She is the coolest!

Don't knock me off the horse Clark!! heehee Aunt Bethany is glad you are wearing your helmet. What a difference from the first attempt. You have her trust now She really likes being with you honey and that makes all the difference. I don't know much about riding, but I know that much. This stage took time and it was worth the wait for you and your patience paid off, now think what you two will be doing in a year from now, holy moly!! Good job honey, and keep that helmet on!!!
