I just don't know what to say, speechless..... you just amaze me more and more every day Ang, and yes she does look like she has put on some weight. I am so happy to see you on her and the progress you have made. It made saving her worth every penny I spent. Keep up the fantastic work....I think this is the best start to my day ever.....reading and seeing this

Thank You Patty! This horse is so special, I just love her. I spent a couple hours out there today just sitting out in the sun with Lady and Wendell (my dog). It was soooo relaxing. I havent been working with riding her lately, my dad is the one who does the horse thing with me and I am not allowed to try it alone. My mom has been with me the past couple days or a friend or I was on my own. So havent had any more progress there. Hopefully this weekend . AND....(drumroll please).....Lady got her feet trimmed today!!!! Woooohooooo . All four got done and it was finished in about an hour and a half (the farrier took about 30min to work with her before he actually started, which i thought was very cool). The farrier was awesome and went at her speed and really calmed her down. So now those things at the bottom of her legs look like hooves again. Yippee! We tried to get them done with a different farrier at Amy's house but Lady had a freak out session and so I have spent since then till now working with them. I really started picking them up everyday and cleaning them out about 2 weeks ago when I knew the farrier was coming. The farrier commented that is SMART and a very good little horse. He said he was jealous cause he wanted a paint .

Great idea about the childrens book....it can also have info in the back about horse rescue . I second that idea...you have some great pictures to put in it. And after that,,,,,a doll and her rescue horse in your books likeness....Angie and Lady

That is great news about her feet, I think that was a big accomplishment. My you have done so well with her in such a short time. All she needed was your love and kindness to show her the way. I really look forward to her updates they are so uplifting.

Angie, your first picture should be a poster for horse rescue. Just before voting time I am sure glad you have her close to you so you can spend so much time together. We miss you guys, but this was clearly the best choice for you and Lady (and your dad's gas bill too ) Your doing a wonderful job honey and you have made a big difference in the life of a horse. You should be very proud of yourself Give her an extra goodie from ole Amy and the goobs:)

Thanks both you guys! I am sure Lady would love to be a celebrity . I miss you guys too, and Lady misses all the ponies and the baby goats . She has been trying to make friends with the sheep, so far no luck. I made sure and gave her an apple for you .

I got on Lady tonight again with the saddle and we rode for a few minutes in the corral. No pics...sorry, I forgot the camera . She was great though. This afternoon I went and visited one of my horsey "aunties". We were brushing her horses and I was talking to her about how I couldnt figure out how to measure Lady for a blanket until now . So she gave me a blanket. It is used and dirty, but hey it works ! I am going to take it to Farmland to get it cleaned. So when I went to feed Lady tonight, I decided to see if I could get it on her. No problem there! She stood totally dead still while I put it on her and clipped the straps. She hasnt had one on before though, because she wouldnt budge once it was on her. I finally got her moving and she wasnt sure what to do for a few seconds. Then she settled down and decided it was nice and warm. So I took if off, and no problem there either, she stood perfectly still . What a good girl!

Hey thanks Bink. Nothing new to report. Havent been on her since the last post. She is fat and happy. I am sure she is thrilled about being a pasture pet. I am trying to find out a way to put in a temporary "very inexpensive" roundpen so I can start working her like a normal horse would be. She is lonely. She finally convinced me of that when I found her at the end of the pasture trying to communicate with the neighbors dogs. They were barking at her and she stood as close as she could and would just eat right by them and would not leave their sight. She has given up on the sheep by the way...She has been trying for weeks to be friendly but they still wont get very close to her. So now she is on the other end trying to smooch up to the Golden Retreivers. Maybe its time I should invest in a goat or something.... I dont want Lady to start barking.

Aww....Thanks Gala! Believe me I was having a bad hair day/bad looks day/bad clothes day in that picture...tehe. Oh well, I figure, the horses dont care so I dont need to dress up to go take care of 'em! About today. It was my first full on attempt at getting Lady to lunge without a roundpen. Not easy, considering we both suck at it. I am too much a dweeb to figure out which end of the rope goes where and making sure I wasnt tangled in it or stepping on it...and Lady was just confuzzled and wondering why her person was trying to make her do the dreaded four letter word W-O-R-K. So after about 30min both of us had given up, we had a little progress and Lady was sweaty. She was being a complete pain today by the way. I came to halter her up and she jumped back and scooted away. She hasnt pulled that one since she was at PEC. So I threw my arms up and sent her off. She came back to me, I tried it a second time, she did the same thing. Thats when I realized I was wearing G-L-O-V-E-S....Oh no!!! So I took one glove off, went back up to her, she was fine. Stinking horse. So I spent a while letting her sniff the glove, throwing the glove all around her, putting the glove in between her ears, throwing it on her back, petting her with it...By the time I was done, she was content using it a chew toy. And while trying to lunge her she would focus on anything BUT me. Her eyes were wandering all over the place. So we did some tight circles and I acted like a crazy woman throwing my arms up and jumping up and down trying to get her attention. After a couple times of that though, she didnt even bother to look. So that idea is out. Maybe today was just an off day? She sure did seemed focus on the noise going on in the back part of the property though, I dont know what her issue was. Then when I shut her in for the night she kept trying to get out of her paddock as I was closing the door. She has never done that before, she goes right to her food and digs in. Hmmm..... But now I know I wont be riding her until I get a roundpen or something of that nature. She needs to be worked. But I have to say, she was much more responsive and respectful after today.
