Don't they have something invented yet that can be strapped around the mare to give support? No fun intended, seriously. Kind of like the back supports you see people wearing to help support when lifting or bending, or even a girdle type thing??? If they don't make one yet, maybe someone could invent one and use Viv as a prototype??? Hope this poor gal gets through this ok. We are watching our Barbie get bigger and bigger and its very sad. I don't think I could ever be a breeder, too much worrying. And to watch these poor mares have to carry such a big load Glad they have 4 legs instead of two! Prayers to Viv from us, poor girl. I would say give her an apple from us (my famous last words) but that would just be an extra few onces to carry around. So give her a big scratch in a unreachable area from us instead

I hope it will be a nice uneventful foaling. My guess date is Sunday with one happy, healthy baby.

No news, but she's definately showing some bag changes since when she first came. I still haven't officially started foal watch yet, she doesn't look quite ready to me, but getting there....

Well guys I am not thinking either of you are going to be right. She isn't really showing a lot of change. She's a little more bagged up since the last photo I posted, but not really changing much from day to day. I haven't even started checking on her at night, she just doesn't look ready enough to me....

Okay, from all the horses on the CBER board that are currently in foal I can understand where you are coming from! They are SO unpredictable! ;D

Viv got her feet done yesterday. She had a bit of trouble with her back feet and the farrier felt she has some soreness in her stifles, which is not uncommon for big-butt QHs like her. Hopefully once she gets the weight off her with this pregnancy it will go away. She did kick my farrier but fortunately she wasn't hurt and we were able to work with her and get all four done without bending her stifles too much. She was fine for her front feet.

Glad everything was ok. I think that the reason she is having problems lifting her foot is because how much extra weight she is holding from being pregnant. A mare over on the CBER boards who is pregnant also had the same problem. So in my opinion she should be much better once she has foaled

Ouch, poor vet! I'm glad that in spite of everything she was able to get her feet done. I guess if I was a big-as-house pregnant mare, with ouchy stifles, I'd be pretty cranky too. Glad there was no harm done!

I seem to recall my sisters said I was grouchy too - though I don't seem to recall it that way! I am so glad to hear Viv is doing well - I can't wait to see baby!
