Feet are good...Daphne did his feet a while ago. The crack he had in his front foot is almost gone after one trim. He's really got very nice feet.

Hi, Was wondering if there are going to be any updated pictures of Krabask? Will you be adopting out as a "pasture pet" or do you think he can still be ridden lightly?

Hi Tinker - Krabask is in a foster home in Snohomish and I'll ask her if she can take some updated photos of him. We are ready to offer Krabask for adoption I am just waiting for the paperwork from the owner so that we can adopt him out. There is no reason he cannot continue to do light work, he just couldn't hold up to heavy dressage work anymore which is why he was retired to be basically a trail horse (supposedly he is also great on trails). If you or someone you know might be interested in him please let me know!

OK, thank you. Do you know if he "spooks" easily? I would like to have a trail horse to go riding with my daughter. We had to put my horse to sleep last June and now don't have a horse to go with her. I like the older horses, they seem to know what is going on. Our other horse is 21 and the one we had to put down was 22. What is his diet like? Are his feet stong?

I don't think anyone has been on Krabask. If I recall correctly, he is an easy keeper. Ate orchard grass and senior feed, I think Jaime soaked the senior but that could be because it was so freakin cold out and he was still a bit thin. He had nice feet and is super easy to handle. And he has the cutest ears!

I am still waiting for the final paperwork from Krabask's owner in California, but he is now healthy and ready to be offered for adoption. Adoption Fee is $500. We will work on getting some updated photos soon, hopefully of him under saddle!

This isn't the greatest photo (taken from my iPhone) but here is Krabask yesterday: His weight is great, but he needs muscle. He will look much better when he is shedded out also.

Eh. I can't really say anything nice about Diana. I used to take lessons from her and I learned nothing. She never let anyone in or near the barn, and most of the horses she boarded were underweight. I had a friend who boarded with her for ONE MONTH and the horse lost 150 lbs in that time. I wouldn't trust Diana to take care of horses, honestly.
I know I probably sound harsh, but I'm just telling what I know.

Krabask is back at my house and he is doing well. We did have a scare where he choked the night before last. He seemed to have passed it, but then the next morning, choked again (both times on hay). He also passed that on his own, but I had Dr. Hannah check him out last night (she was out anyway to work on Little Miss and see Amber). His lungs were fine and she checked his teeth as well and they are great - in fact she commented on what awesome teeth he has for his age. So we are soaking his hay for a little while. My guess is, since he was on only pasture at his last foster home, that hay is a bit of a novelty for him so he scarfed it. I have that super-fine, soft orchard grass that balls up easily. I am picking up some donated Timothy this weekend and will try him on that instead, as he will have to chew it a bit more. We are going to try and get up on him this weekend and get some photos of him under saddle. He really looks like a different horse in motion - he lifts his back and arches his neck and looks beautiful!

I rode Krabask yesterday and he is such a nice ride, just as he was described. He goes nicely on the bit and is clearly well-trained. I rode him in a saddle seat saddle which was not comfortable for me but he still did really well. He is however, a bit off in his hind end due to his arthritis - he was not wanting to trot under saddle and kept breaking into a canter. So, he definitely needs some maintenance to be kept comfortable as a riding horse. I started him on a joint supplement last night and we shall see how he does. We have plans to send him up to a foster home in Arlington that is going to condition him and take him out on the trails.
