Poor boy. Is he starting to do better with the washing up yet? Hopefully he heals ok and has no more episodes!

My poor hubby was walking around with his knees together the other day at Jaybird's place...I don't think I'll show him this even with the "<<graphic photos deleted>>"
It's for a good cause little Kokomo Buddy, We thank you for your contribution to sane horse ownership.
Here's to a LONG & HEALTHY life!

They showed a gelding procedure on Dirty Jobs on Monday night. My hubby was cringing through most of it! I have never seen one done, so I was thoroughly fascinated.

Kokomo is doing very well - his swelling is abating and his incisions are starting to heal nicely. He still bleeds periodically, but nothing like the way he did the night he arrived here. He is such a pleasure to have around....he is sweet, curious, brave, funny, and always very happy when it comes time for grain. Such a handsome little guy!
I had to laugh the other morning when I went out to feed breakfast....Kokomo was in his stall lying down, and on the floor next to him was a 24" tall traffic cone that he brought in from his paddock! He apparently likes to play with toys (and cones....and muck buckets...). He is still quite intimidated by the big horses, especially Jay, but I suppose that is sensible since Jay likes to bite him. Kokomo does the whole clacking routine...he also spreads his front legs out to make himself shorter. It's so cute. He used to do that to Rhythm, but now I think they are on more equal footing. When I turn them out with the big horses, they stick close by each other and as far away from the big boys as possible. He and Rhythm seem to enjoy exploring in the woods. They also will take naps together in the dirt.
Kokomo is getting a visit tomorrow from a potential adopter...keep your fingers crossed that all goes well...this would be an excellent home. More to come!

Kokomo in action: He still has a tiny bit of bleeding after his "forced exercise" and Bonnie was fretting over some new warts, but I think the model agencies will hunt him down anyway.

Kokomo has found his forever home!! Congratulations to Pat and Larry Lawson of Ollala on their newest addition to their herd! Kokomo has joined former SAFE horses Parelli (now Amado) and Sierra, as well as a menagerie of farm animals, and Kokomo will eventually become their grandaughter's english show horse.

awwwww, I'm very happy for him & a tad bit jealous! but ultimately it's very heartwarming to know he'll have a wonderful home. As his first sponsor and official FAN please consider me his Fairy god-mother or something silly like that ... I expect to see updated photos often! THANK YOU to SAFE for taking such good care of him and THANK you Pat & Larry for opening your heart and home to him. I think he's going to make you all very happy. CONGRATS!!

Kokomo is going to SHINE! He has that balanced look, all his parts working together, and his pretty gold hide won't hurt him.
Congratulations. I know for those who saw him wasting away in Carnation this is a particularly wonderful moment.
