I have some pictures to post of Kokomo's gelding and his first forced exercise session, but it will have to wait until I get back before I post them. He's now at Bonnie's - he was doing great and seemed to be healing perfectly, little swelling, little bleeding. He loaded into the trailer like a champ, but when he got to Bonnie's he was bleeding again, and it didn't stop (and in fact seemed to get worse) so now Bonnie's having to have a vet from over there out tonight for an emergency call.
Poor Kokomo! I am sure she will post an update as soon as she can.

Oh, my poor little friend! Now I feel bad that we were just kinda having a lighthearted discussion when I told my friends today that my new boy/friend got castrated:( I'm sorry Kokomo. I Hope you heal fast. That can't be fun...for you either Bonnie!
Give him a kiss for me and tell him his favorite sponsor is thinking about him.....

Kokomo seems okay now, but he did a LOT of bleeding last night. At Dr Hannah's recommendation, I tried to get a vet out to pack and suture, but my vet was out of town, his backup was out on another emergency call and I was unable to get anyone else to come out (at 11pm on a Sunday night.) I was getting ready to try to pack it myself ( ) with Hannah instructing me via phone. Fortunately, around 11:30 the bleeding stopped and it appeared that there was finally some clotting happening, so we decided to go back to watch & see mode. I got up hourly through the night to check on him and although there was still some bleeding, it was not as bad as it had been previously. This morning he seems to be doing okay. I'll have to watch him pretty closely and if things take a turn for the worse, my own vet is back in the office today, so I should be able to get some help. Attitude-wise, he seems fine, a bit quiet, but fortunately calm. He's eating his hay and grain. He is unbelievably sweet! I, on the other hand, am unbelievable tired and a little depressed about this helmet discussion that is going on. But I am pleased to say that despite the copious amounts of blood I have seen in the last 14 hours, I did not pass out, throw up, or cry. But there is still time for that I suppose.

ON Saturday, Jaime and I turned him out in the arena for his 20 minutes of trotting and he was bleeding slightly after that, but it stopped pretty quickly. He tried to mount Sinatra (f-r-e-a-k-e-d poor little Sinatra out!) but didn't try anything after Phoenix and Sinatra ran away as fast as they could.

Any update on Kokomo? And ... I didn't know where to post this .... I didn't understand "if King County pays." Is it not obligated to pay what it owes for the care of the Carnation horses? What the heck?

I'm sorry, I guess I should have said "when" King County pays....they will pay us, the question is when...

Kokomo is doing much better. No more bleeding yesterday or today. He spent yesterday in the stall, and his sheath blew up to the size of a cow's udder. Today he got turned out and got his prescribed forced exercise sessions and the swelling has abated a bit. Overall he seems fine, he's eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, lying down, getting up, being lovable, you know, the usual!!

We got to visit Kokomo yesterday. He just gets more handsome all the time. He was such a sweety even though you could tell he was still sore from recent events. He is being a real trooper even in the rain. Perhaps it will finally stop raining when the Ellege case is decided. Then everyone can go to their new homes and enjoy the [glow=red,2,300]sunshine![/glow]
