Chelsea, if you want to ride, I have an extra horse for you if Toad isn't up to it!
I was actually hoping to use Vanna in the morning session (she has a sore back from having so many babies) and then Slam for the riding portion. You could ride Vanna, or Crafty?

Will do Valerie! Just the morning session for both, or are you going to ride one in the afternoon?
Just so you know, I don't know exactly what the riding format will be but I don't think its going to be strenuous work for the horses. I imagine it will be a lot about saddle fit, position of the rider, and work at the walk. If you horse is still green (or has breathing issues like Toad) and you are not comfortable going faster than a walk, we can accomodate that!

Hmmm - well, I have a couple of issues that make me hesitant to do the riding part. 1) I am out of riding shape by about 6 years 2) Chewy is out of shape 3) Chewy has sore back issues
So, I think I will stay out of the riding part for now - I will try to catch the next one for a full clinic and hopefully we will be in better shape by then.

Thanks Jaime- I will see how the Toadlet is doing and if he is not up to riding I will take you up on your offer......I am not the best rider for sure but have decent hands and seat so I will not be on anyone's mouth! I am looking forward to taking lessons on the Toadlet when his breathing is under control.

Ok, just bring your own saddle as I just have one. Vanna can go western or english, your pick (I do have an extra bridle).

Also, if there is enough room in the trailer, Chelsea, I can bring Storme along and he would be great for anyone that needs an extra guy to ride in the afternoon that any teenager or adult can ride. Just throwing it out there if anyone wants to borrow him for the afternoon part.

Mara - there will be lots of room in the trailer....she has a 6 horse and we are only bringing 3 so we could add Storme easily. And Jaime I will bring a few saddles as I have never used one of mine on Toad......I am having one specifically fitted for him so I bought an old Crosby off ebay, and I will bring my Courbette and a western in hopes one will fit LOL Okay Redmond with all of these "extra" horses you have to ride too! I am SERIOUSLY out of shape and I am planning to haul my fat Arse up onto Toad...... here is a pic of me riding this year for inspiration.....you gotta love when the size of your own ass rivals your horse's when you are going down the trail.......

Great! Well, if that works for everybody, then count Stormin' Normin' in! He would love to participate...and would probably be much happier going then staying home alone, but whatever works, I'm game... ;D I do understand the being out of shape feeling-that's for sure!!! After my son was born, I couldn't even do a posting trot, it was a foreign feeling, and quite embarrassing. After all these years of riding, you would think that you would be able to at least do something you have done forever!!! Well, no, my body totally forgot how to use the muscles as they were not there to use!!!

If there happens to be an extra horse around to sit my butt on in the afternoon I'd take you up on that. My shoulder hurts too bad to do the ground work but I should be able to do the saddle work! Otherwise I'm quite happy to man the food and take pictures of everyone.

Just to clarify things a little bit.... The riding component is really only a small portion of the clinic. The morning will consist of discussion about chiro, acupuncture, palpation skills, Q and A, and much more. After the discussion period everyone will take a break and then begin actually having "horse time". Learning stretching exercises, lots of hands on with your horse, Dr Hannah will work with everyone. After lunch there will be another hands on session for a good portion of the afternoon. Then near then end of the day there will be a riding session and then post riding evaluation and stretching. This is obviously a brief overview (not in full detail) of how the day will go - but wanted to give everyone an idea of what to expect. Of course, if anyone has any questions - give me a call and we can chat. (206) 940-8589 This will be a great clinic for everyone - your horses will so happy that you participated! See you all tomorrow!

Sounds like the riding part is going to real minimal. Doesn't sound too intense at all, mostly walking exercises that can help.
