...and a drum roll please!
SAFE is jumping into fund raising in a big way! The complete details will follow, but here is an enticing tidbit for everyone!
SAFE will be hosting a 2 day ground work clinic! The clinic will be held in Monroe at our own Schwung's fabulous farm on July 29th and 30th. This two day event will be open to outside participation and will also feature some of our SAFE horses available for adoption. For those who can't bring horses it will also be open for auditing - so spread the work.
The clinic will be given by two fabulous trainers. For those of you who remember Bacchus from the beginning of SAFE, he was a gelding who went through three trainers who could not reach him. A desperate search with many helping parties in multiple states brought Dorothy Love to our attention. She took this unhandleable guy and had him halter trained in 2 days and wearing a saddle in 2 weeks. Dorothy had the wonderful benefit of literally growing up with Ray Hunt for a neighbor and the second trainer traveled all last summer with Ray Hunt helping him with his clinics.
More details will be out soon, but mark your calendars and spread the word! ;D

I am looking forward to being there and finally meeting the remaining SAFE horses. I've been reading and writing about them for about a year now, I can't wait to actually meet them...and all my SAFE friends!

The final cost of the class is still being determined, but I can tell you it will be much lower than other comparable classes with the added bonus of two trainers. Work will be specialized to each horse's and handler's need and there will also be a round pen for at liberty work. The trainers are also very open to audience questions as their goal is to help people with their horses. This will be a great event and I will have the flyer completed with the final costs within the next 2 days!

How about we extend this item sale to the event? We can set up some type of booth and sell stuff to benefit SAFE. We could all bring things - I will be glad to man the booth (or share the responsibility with someone so I could watch some of the event)- I have one of those Market umbrellas to sit under ( and pray for a no wind day!).
What do you think?

I like it! And taking it even further...we could pick up some sodas, chips, etc at Costco and sell them, as it is likely to be hot!

Now you're talkin'! Ok - how about this..... I doubt Ms. Vivian can hold out till the clinic or after.... how about.... 1 dollar per chance to name the baby? Drawing to be held at the end of the event - they get their picture with the foal - which is also posted on the SAFE board and they get to name the baby. Either the right to OR they pay per name that they put in the hat.... just a thought....

and btw - if you all hate the idea - don't worry about shooting it down - we all know the risks of losing control over the naming process.....Well ...there you are little......skeezerbutt sigh....
