Same breeder/owner often put ads in the local nickel advertising horses, starting price $400. They have a TB stallion that was once shown at 3 rd level, I am watching the CBER site, as I hope I dont' see him there. He is getting older, probably around 20 or so now. I plainly call them "backyard breeders" as they have done NOTHING with they're stallions to promote them.. (except for maybe the TB stallion, but that was 15 years ago) they might even be doing some imbreeding. They are basically just breeding bloodlines, and some go way way back. I have seen some nice horses come out of there, but unfortunately it usually takes some time with these horses, as they don't have any sort of start. The babies are born, and then just left in the pasture, and have absolutely no handling, and are scared of people. Or they send them to a trainer, for 30 days, and then the horse comes back and sits in the pasture for years, never getting touched. I just wish they would stop breeding horses.

He is doing good, thanks for asking. I think he has put on a bit of weight. I still find it hard to believe he is such a calm boy. The other day we had a load of gravel dumped right beside his paddock and he took it all in stride. We put his fly mask on everyday in the morning and take it off every evening to protect his eyes. I would put him out in one of my fields, but we have not converted all our field fencing to non-climb and boards yet. I do not want to run the risk of him not seeing the wire and hurting himself. We let him out by the barn everyday to graze for awhile. It is a more protected spot and he is out only when we are out there with him. We had Elle and Dancer moved over in his adjoining pasture today, and he got to do alot of talking to the girls. Pretty sure that made him happy. I will try to post a new picture soon. He laid down in his stall and has a big green spot on his pretty coat.

He is doing good. I have been hesitant to find him a new home, but the time when Teddie is due to return from training is fast approaching. bsnlark has offered him a home, I just need to determine if her place is blind horse friendly. He is such a nice boy, I wish I could keep him. (And my husband really likes him too) But when Teddie comes home, I will have 9 horses here. It is not so bad in the summer, but in the winter, it sucks. We have put in 11 tons of hay, and when the next round of haying comes in a couple of weeks, we hope to put in about 7 more tons. Crap, I used to only need 3 tons to get me through the year until I started rescueing. Sigh, oh well, what else is my hard earned money for. In one end and out the other...LOL That reminds me, I need to make a "Free Composted Horse Manure" sign. LOL

Thanks for the update! I can totally sympathize with the amount of food that needs to be bought...but I only have to deal with it on the cat level. And the poop scooping at my place is getting pretty daunting!!

Morph is such a funny horse. Every night when we go out to feed him and take of his eye protection, he dives right into his hay. He is not content to eat it neatly out of his big tub. NOOOO, he has to stick his head clear to the bottom and swoosh it all out onto the floor. My husband thinks he does that so he can take a bite then look out the door. Here he is looking at me. Wondering why I am taking his picture while he is eating.

Some may know that Mr Morph is my Miss Cassie's grandpa. He is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen! Looks like he has gained some weight, he looks great Laurie!

Yup, I knew that Morph was Cassie's grandpa. Her sire is Rock N Love, right? I wonder if the Appaloosa registry keeps records of all progeny like AHA does. It would be nice to look up his record.
Do you keep a fly mask on her during the day. With all the reading I have done, I think if I owned an appaloose or any horse with pink skin by their eyes, I would mask them during the day.
And yes, he has gained some weight.
Morph will be going to a new home soon. As much as I love him, I do not have the room for him. He will be going to live with bsnlark soon. But if for some reason it does not work out, he will always have a place to come back to.

Both laurie and I are going into this with our eyes open, and are in full agreement about Morph. If he adjusts well to being here he will stay, and if he doesnt for any reason, Laurie will be here yesturday to take him back to her house.
He will never be abandoned/starved again, or left in a trailer , that I WILL promise !!!!!

I will look forward to meeting him If all else fails we can all go in on creating a perfect blind horse paddock at one of our places and then we'll pair him up with Slutline and they can spend the next 10 years bumping into each other. She never met a gelding she didn't love!

He was put in there so he would be safe while they loaded other horses into another trailer. I am sure he will do fine at Peggys, but he will always have a home here if it does not. Kurt and I are going up on Sunday to help make her fences "sight-impaired horse" friendly. Sorry you can't come help Cat.
