Clover came from Craigslist the beginning of January. Some of you may remember the posting which included gems like "I am young and need a young horse" and "I need a horse I can ride bareback." Indeed, it is hard to ride them bareback when they are starving to death because you are only feeding hay and they can't chew it. Clover before: Clover spent two weeks with me and then six more with Seahorse. She is fat, sassy and ready for a home. She is sound and perky, feet done, teeth done, dewormed, all set to go. I rode her for the first time yesterday and she did not want to walk and was trying to jog! She is somewhere between 25 and 30. She should live outside most of the time or she stocks up. Extremely quiet to work around, no "holes" but would probably drag a really little kid off under saddle and just eat grass. Or go back to her stall. You know the kind. She'd be an awesome light use trail horse for a petite lady who wanted a safe, predictable horse. She can be a crab around other horses. Prefers her own paddock or would be fine as an "only horse." She needs 3 scoops of soaked orchard grass pellets and 1 scoop of senior or safechoice 2x day to maintain her weight. She will pick at hay but can't really process it. Not enough grinding surfaces left. Interested? PM me! She is in the Portland area at the moment.

Wow - the difference care makes! Wonderful job...and it is a job with an senior once they have gotten so 'down' it takes effort every day (plus) to get them up to where they rightfully should be - keeping them there is another job! Ahhhhhhhhhh the labor of love!!

Totally different looking horse...what a great job! You can see the sparkle in the eye in the one picture while you are riding.

She is a real doll to be around...the kind that stretches out her nose to put it in the halter for you. She stands steady as a rock for the farrier and vet and would safely let a little kid brush her for hours. She is forward and has an "appytude" but not a mean bone in her body. She likes to trot and is a cutie when she does......she has a spring to her stride. When I took these pics of Cat riding her I kept saying "she is SO cute" LOL I miss her funny sweet face! She would make a great beginner gaming horse for a little one as she likes to go but is pretty safe as long as the kids legs are long enough and they had enough arm strength to keep her going where THEY want to go LOL

Clover is heading to bsnlark's place this weekend so that she can be closer to where I live until adopted. I may have an adopter on her, so cross your fingers - but if anybody else is interested, I guarantee this is a rescue that you can actually ride that does not have any "surprise problems." She is sane and sound and rideable with good vision and good feet. Just needs a little extra care with her feed.

I got to meet Clover yesterday and she is a dream of a horse. She has been there and done that-unflappable and gentle. She will make a great horse for someone

ummmmm yes she is definitely capable of fending for herself in a herd LOL The cool thing about her is she would be fine being an "only" horse. I had her in her own paddock after she and the old men clashed.....and she was happy as a frog to be in her own space. She is sweet....thank you for taking for a bit! Please give her a kiss on the nose for me!

Cross your fingers...I have a lady coming to look at her tonight who recently lost her 30+ year old. Her young daughter needs another old coot horse. It sounds really good...hope they will like her!

She is heading off for a 1 month trial period to see how it goes. She was actually pretty darn bratty today...it was feeding time and she did not particularly want to go get ridden. I rode her around the driveway & trashed bsnlark's backyard and she wanted to jog and was spinning on a dime. Silly pony. I may have rescued the world's hottest 30 year old. But they have an instructor and an indoor, so I think she will be much better for them at their barn!
I bet she was a gamer in her past life...that is what she rides like. At her age, it's cute! I just hope she will walk with the timid kid who's trying her out and get herself a great new home. They just lost their elderly TB mare and are used to a senior with special needs (theirs had Cushing's so compared to that, needing to eat mush is a very cheap and easy special need!)
