Yay for Trey! I miss his cute little butt! He is so light on the bit because I rode him mostly hunter, and they ride with no/light contact and jumpers have no/light contact, and any dressage I do is classical so light, light, light! It is much easier to teach a horse to ride with 'contact' than to carry himself (and he didn't start that light it took work!) so if someone wanted to ride with more contact they could teach him pretty easily. also - he has been lunged over jumps, poles, cavaletties, etc. and he loves it! he really has cute form over the jumps, very round and tucks his feet together. He needs canter work, and miles, miles, miles! I wish I had more time to play with him...two months went by fast! I would have loved to show him. But I know he will find a great home

I have been researching aural plaque, which is what Trey has going on in his ears. I am thinking of trying this product on him, has anyone ever heard of it or tried it? www.dermafas.com/testimonials.shtml

I had a good little ride on Trey this weekend. We lunged him over trot poles and he finally figured that out and stopped jumping them. Then I got on him and rode him a bit, even went through the trot poles a couple of times. He was a good boy, although he does try to stop in the corner by the gate every time I pass it and I had to "explain" to him that I decide when we are done, not him. Then Allyson and I had the fun experience of putting the Dermafas in his ears (I went ahead and ordered it for him last week). He actually wasn't as bad as I expected he would be. It wasn't easy, but I was able to get it in both ears about 2/3 of the way down. Unfortunately the ear plaque goes way down his ear so I wasn't able to cover all of it, but it was a good start and hopefully he will get better as I continue to work on it and re-apply the cream every other day or so.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere, but this is a photo of Trey and his dam Sloan, who was also rescued and placed by CBER. She is a cute black and white pinto sort of cob-type, around 14h if I recall correctly:

Sione has ear plaque too, I might have to try that product. I hope it works on little Trey. I wish there was a magic way to stick something into a horse ear............yikes.

Tina, is Sione sensitive about her ears? This literally just started a couple of months ago and suddenly he is VERY ear shy. He will let me touch them gently on the outside but freaks out about anything going over his head, even just the reins. We are working on desensitizing him but also understanding it hurts to have his ears bent.

She's a ottb, and sensitive about everything...she had them when she got to my house, honestly, I'm afraid to try putting anything in there at this point. She is very good for wormer and miracle clay tubes, but the ears are not a touchable body part yet. Ginger does not have the plaque but no toucha the ears is her motto too.
I have put a bridle on a few times without any drama from her. I was proud of her.

He is ADORABLE. Another Connor in the making, for sure! I will cross my fingers. It's so great when they go to these really wonderful homes and get to strut their stuff at the shows.

If all goes well with the site check and reference checks, it looks like Trey may have a home! I'll post more once its official, but I am very excited for Mr. Trey!
