So, I personally think it has been waaaayyyy too long since we've had a Trey update. How's the little man doing? Have we had any recent updates?

I have been in contact with Trey's owner a couple of times over the last few months. She has been working through some issues with Trey and the bottom line is that it sounds like he is not working out as a beginner's lesson horse. It sounds like he has shown an aptitude for jumping and she has asked for permission to rehome him as a child's hunter. Our policy is that we allow horses to be rehomed as long as the new owner goes through the adoption procedures and signs an adoption contract. I haven't heard back yet as to whether or not she has made a final decision on rehoming him yet. Hopefully I will have some updated photos to post as well. Despite not working out for her program, it sounds like Trey is doing very well.

I always thought he would be a good little hunter. Will he come back to SAFE?

She has the option to rehome him or return him to SAFE. I assume she will try to rehome him so she can put a price on him that reflects whatever training she has put into him.

She should get in touch with Joanna - she had several strong little pony riders there the last time I was there, and that might be a good way to market him so that he finds a great show home.

Trey is for sale - his Dreamhorse ad with photo is here: www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1249202Carla understands that anyone who is interested in Trey will need to submit to our adoption screening and sign an adoption contract with us. The price was set by his owner and represents the additional training she has put into him. She has also had him registered with the American Quarter Pony Association. I understand he has grown and now stands 14.1 hands. If you are interested in Trey, please complete an adoption application. If you have questions about Trey, please contact Carla at: schmidthead@msn.com.

Wow...he looks good!! He was always such a cutie!
Man, I wonder if I would look silly on a pony...hmm...nah, I don't think I'm hunter material anymore...I should stick to mangling dressage a few days a week.

Many thanks to epiphany for taking the time to do a follow-up visit on Trey today! He is looking great. He is staying at a friend's house right now that has a great set up for him. He is still looking for a new home, but it has to be the right match for him. He's not dangerous, but very forward, and needs a confident and balanced rider as he has a sensitive back. She does have a student riding him now but as she is a novice rider she wants to wait until she has some more riding time in and he is a bit less green and a bit more mature. The student rides him twice a week and Carla rides him as well, so he is getting consistent work. Here are some photos that epiphany took: Shelter: Paddock and pasture areas: Trey, being ridden by the student:

Trey is cute! cute! cute! Obviously he'd make an adorable show pony for some lucky intermediate older kid... or I also think he'd make a good choice for a small adult who likes to be closer to the ground.

So one of the students of Trey's adopter is interested in purchasing Trey. It's a mother/daughter team and they have both been riding him all winter and have fallen in love with him. They will continue to keep him at the same place and work with Carla. Yeah for Trey!
