Mytwoponies; I'm right with you.
Unfortunately, with the horse market being the state that it's in, fattening up a horse and making them look presentable just isn't enough. So this idea of flipping them really quick just doesn't work. You're in for the long haul. You are going to lose money. You will incur vet bills. You are going to lose more money... and if that's okay, then great. Of course, even the world of training doesn't guarantee a stellar home; but it sure improves the chances!

(this is my opinion and NOT the opinion of the auctionhorse board!)
You people are the biggest hypocrites I have ever run into!
Amanda has been posting on this board for a year about getting horses and breeding horses! And you all HAVE DONE NOTHING!
Amanda posted on THIS BOARD about getting Cash! And not ONE WORD from any of you! SHAME ON YOU! Since some of you pointed out SOOO clearly that you knew her history with horses! I'm stunned!
Yet you all have the audacity to blame the auctionhorse board for his demise! UNBELIEVABLE!
Somehow magically we possess great powers that could have stopped her from getting him?!
What did you want us to do? (Please answer this question; I would love to hear back on this!)
Maybe you’re feeling guilty about his death and needed a scapegoat?!
You all have completely lost sight of what is important! You have lost my respect, and I certainly don’t care about earning yours!
I donate to two local rescues that I know rescue from the heart!

Redflower - BS on all your statements. Every single person who posted about Cash told her to geld him, everyone on this board told her she really shouldn't be breedingwith an unsuitable facility and finances; yet everyone on the auction board thinks her breeding is soooo k-yoot and can't wait to name the baby. Do some reading and educate yourself.

SAFE is an amazingly good rescue. I don't think it is any more appropriate for them to be cast in an off light because of the actions of someone who happens to join their board then it is for the same to be done to the Auction Horses board. SAFE is doing a darn good job at what they do and I just hope that the Auction Horses board is able to prove folks wrong and accomplish the mission statement of increasing awareness of the plight of the auction horses.

I am late on this it took me sometime to unwind all the threads. I like the fact that some people save horses in need. Sometimes the reasons do not make sense to me but I hope that it is a better place then previous home. I am against people getting more horses then they can afford. Breeding low quailty stock is just plain wrong. Stallion management can be done and we have done it on the farm for 30+ yrs. It takes planning, Correct handling and stabling. With any stallion you cannot assume that they will stay in the stall or not get loose. There is no room for shortcuts. I do not know most of the people involved and dont really follow all the boards. I would rather see a horse euthanized then to go from bad to worse. Flipping horses for money is just greed. You dont know these animals but are willing to send them to whomever has money. That is a accident waiting to happen. I have rescued horses 2 at this time. I have my CBER horse and a starved 27yr old 1/2 arab mare that is rehabing here. They will both stay here for the rest of their lives. I am sorry if this sounds preachy but it is important to the safety and health of the animals we love so much.

shekaberry - I did do some reading and educated myself, that is why I posted what I did! As I stated nothing was said while Amanda was posting about GETTING him. The shit hit the fan when she posted about breeding him, and I do acknowledge that! Yet somehow the AH board was responsible for what happend to Cash? Please tell me what we should have done differently to have PREVENTED Amanda from getting Cash??
I'm totally against breeding ANYTHING until all homeless animals have a home (dogs, cats & horses) I did not think it was k-yoot at all. In fact I was stunned. But I am brand new to this arena, and chose to stay out of it.
AH is brand spanking new, but the people from this board have been nothing but vindictive cruel and well I'll say it...immature!

I've been staying out of this one...all this drama exhausts me. And the resurfacing of my favorite Munchausen's animal neglecter just made my day. It's time to put this one to bed, as much as I loathe moderating.
Thank you Tash for pointing out that SAFE is not responsible for anything our members posts on this board. We do not censor, edit or ban people here, but I will lock threads that get out of hand.
Redflower - the issue here, as I think has been pointed out several times before, is the fact that this person, and Kristi Meng, were both moderators on your auction site. As such, they represented the "leadership" of the "auction group". And in any organized group, be it a horse rescue or simply an online community, the actions of those in a leadership position will be scrutinized and any negativity will reflect poorly on the group as a whole.
What is even more frustrating to some people here is that while this is a new experience for most of you on the auction site, it is not for those of us that have been involved in rescuing for many years now. People getting caught up in the drama of "rescue", throwing money at virtual strangers so they can take in horses they have no business getting, people taking in horses and begging for money for vet bills, people getting overwhelmed/scared and horses just "rescued" now desperately needing a new home ASAP. We've also heard all the justifications, that even if a home isn't "perfect" its better than death, that these horses are at least getting a chance, etc. And we've seen the same tired accusations "You people don't care about horses!" "Do you want to just let them DIE!", etc, etc., etc. It happened on the CBER board. It happened on this board when we had a "Horses in Need" forum. It still happens daily over on the ABR board. I'm sure there are others.
And that is why you get the reactions you are getting. We are not cold hearted, mean-spirited people who don't care about horses. No, in fact we care about horses so much, that we get upset when we see this stuff happen again and again. Death is NOT always the worst option.
This is the reason I asked that the auction threads be moved elsewhere as I asked the Craiglist/Horses at Risk threads to move two years ago. We can't stop the train wrecks from happening, but we don't want SAFE involved or associated with that kind of "rescue". Yes there are success stories, but when your success to disaster ratio is running at about 50/50 or worse, that is not anything to brag about.
And as for whether or not people complained enough about Amanda getting Cash at the beginning, I am sure there were quite a few people who were upset about it and I imagine it was out of respect for our "no drama" policy that they kept their mouths shut.
So please return this discussion to its proper place.
And Kristi, I hope this is the last we hear from you. I love how you come here and state that you have changed and you learned from your mistakes and over on the other forum you refer to it as "hearsay and lies". No, not hearsay, not lies. I speak from first hand knowledge and all the emails are right here on this forum in black and white, unedited, as well as the shocking, horrible photos of the condition you allowed your horse to get into. I will never forget the condition of that horse and your complete lack of empathy towards his obvious suffering for as long as I live.

Oh and Kristi..? There was no ownership papers signed and ownership was never transferred. We just paid his vet bills, the vet bills you agreed to help with, remember? Your boyfriend may have been involved but he never said a single word and all communication came from you and was worded as "we", and those emails are all posted on this site for all to see.
