What is Heidis demeanor around other horses? Is she aggressive or mellow? Before I even attempt to ask my husband about fostering, I need to know that she would fit in with my old ladies and old man. I really do not have much room and would not be able to do any training on her, just take care of her and feed her. I have 8 horses on about 3 acres, so am in about the same boat as Chelsea. I have more property, it is just not ready for horses yet. I will go refresh ny brain on the other horses. I just remember the most about Heidi cause she is an Arabian. I am a long way off from you guys too, but if you are that desperate, I would like to help if I could.

Thanks Laurie! Heidi is very, very submissive in a herd. Every one of my horses beat up on her. Even Lexi.
Let me know if that is a possibility. We are pretty desperate, so may take you up on it!

What are you foster policies on boarding stables? I currently board my horse but would be willing to take on one as a foster. If that's not acceptable then that's understandable. Will definately be up to fostering when we get our property.

I think as long as the boarding facility meets our requirements for foster homes, and we can be assured that the horse will be cared for, that a boarding situation would be fine. Please complete a foster application.

I have been a foster home now for a vey short time,, to my shame I should of done it sooner. I love it, hearing the familar noise in my back pasture WARMS MY HEART. Helping even one horse, is truely rewarding. Everyone has very busy lives and I am no exception to this. Make room for just a little more love in your heart and fill just one empty stall or run-in in your pasture, the good people you will meet while doing this will AMAZE you.

Thank you - that nicker coming from the pasture or barn is just the best way to start the day isn't it!

My *favorite* part is the tranquility of shoveling poop, getting the new shavings all in place all fluffed up, turn the bedcovers over, place a mint on the pillow, fill the water bucket up, let them come in for the night ................ aaaaaaaaaaaaand have them all poop and pee all over after spending the last hour outside watching you work hard for them ..

We currently live in Pasco, WA but we're looking to move to Eugene, OR. pretty soon, although we're not sure when. We currently own an 18 year old, SPUNKY, arabian mare so we will have acreage.. but once we move I'm 100% sure that I could talk my hubby into fostering at least one!! I will let you all know once we get into a house down there.
I can't wait!!

I'm in the Eatonville area on the Western side of the mountains...do you need anyone over here to help foster? I've got 10 acres and only 2 horses

Suppose a boarding facility donated board for a foster. Would there be a tax write off incentive for the business "donating" services?

Is there a type of fence that is required for this? I've got the application filled out but I am not sure my place would fit the requirements I need to add another leanto as I don't have one in the back pasture and I know I would need help with food if I was to help is that something that could be done?

Hi Christa -
Thanks so much for your interest and willingness to help! As far as fencing - no barbed wire - and fencing should be *safe* and in good condition, as in, T-posts should be capped, and there shouldn't be anything jutting out, or potentially hazardous... (we know horses do stupid things, but ideally we mitigate as much as possible)..

I'm going to call to verify with my tax professional, okay my mom...handy business for a mom to be in, but as the boarding facility is donating their board to the rescue, they should be able to write off what the value of the board is. Bonnie - can you confirm?

At least that's what another rescue who does this has told me.
It also gives a horse very good exposure.
