sorry everyone....KCG and I have been talking about this offline, so we're really not ignoring her. Luckily for SAFE, Peri has much better manners than I do!

Bumping this up, as fall is rapidly approaching and we have a desperate need for more foster homes! We currently have 4 horses that will need a new foster home come the rainy season, and nowhere to put them! Chelsea can only keep the Palomino and Rusty through the summer months. Hopefully their case will be decided on the 27th and we will get custody and be officially able to offer them for adoption (and we will be able to adopt them out quickly), but it is possible that they will be tied up in litigation for several more months.
We also recently decided to take on a rescue TB (more info on that soon) that will need a foster home come winter. Lastly, while not officially a SAFE horse, Chuck needs to find a new foster home for the winter and SAFE is willing to take him on IF we can find a foster home for him.
Thank you!

I need to focus on getting ready to leave for my week in Wyoming, but when I get back I will look into whether we can finally take on a foster here (and since I offered to before if everything can be arranged here). Ideally, a mare would work best, but I am partial to Arabs as everyone knows.

Well Liz...if you were interested in taking Heidi and had time to work with her a little bit, then you could take her and I could take one of the geldings...

I don't know how much I could help out, but we have an offer in on a house on ten acres ;D I'm over here in North Idaho, but the pasture is fenced and there is a barn with stalls/turnout. My problem is that I'd need to redo fence....some of it's barbed I'll keep you updated with what's going on, and again...not sure how much help I'd be all the way over here, but if it came down to it, I'm there for SAFE! edited to add: It's pretty bad when I go to look at a really nice house...and the first thing I look at is the pasture and barn. Screw the house....let me see the barn!!

Jaime, I have a soft spot for that little horse! If it can wait until mid-September when I get back, then that would be perfect. And I have to run it by the hubby of course!

Oh for sure! She is fine with me until then, or even until the end of Sept, and if you can take her then, I can take one of the geldings for Chelsea.
And Whitewolf - that would be awesome for you! I'll cross my fingers that you get the place! (and, I'm the same way, I could have cared less about the house - which is cute but tiny - I bought my place for the land and the ARENA!)

Liz, you'll love Heidi. She is a lot of fun and I'll bet if you took her trail riding with friends, someone would be really interested in her for their kid. She truly has the mind to be a good child's horse...just needs a bit more tuning.

And Heidi isn't ready to pack around a 4 year old yet. Buena's job will be to pack around Jackson in a few more years.

OK, putting this out there once again. The foster horse situation at SAFE has now become critical.
We currently have an URGENT need to find alternative foster homes for Pal, Rusty, Bandit, and Heidi. Chelsea currently has TWELVE horses on her 8 acre property which is way too many going into winter and Rusty and Pal were supposed to be only temporary. Bandit needs to find a new home as he is being aggressive to poor Dobbin who cannot get out of his way quickly. And Heidi's new foster/training situation did not work out and the foster wants to return her ASAP.
All our other foster homes are currently full. If you can consider helping, even for a MONTH, we would greatly appreciate it.
Please remember that SAFE covers all vet and farrier care.
