I can't get any answers from the Auction house. No one is picking up the phone.
I am getting ready to go there, with my camera anyway. Maybe John the barn manager will help me out if I can find him.
I'll update you again around 4:00 PST (helping roomie move today as well)

:'(We have a bigger problem than Miss Home Alone. There is ANOTHER horse at the auction house abandoned. The meat truck is coming for her. She is either a Standardbred or a Thoroughbred mare, older...with a blown knee. She is depressed, filthy and has no spark. I named her Sarah's Sweet Sorrow. Her pictures are BELOW Miss Home Alone's.
I need some direction here guys. I am sooo sad. Ok, I went to the auction house. Here is what I know of MHA: 1) Miss Home Alone may be being bought by a worker at the auction house 2) If not, she will go through auction tomorrow evening. 3) Her breed is "Azteca" 4) She is broke to drive, not to ride. Here are her pictures. OK, Here is Sarah's Sweet Sorrow. I don't know what her bail is if anything yet. We gotta get her out of there. She is in the cattle side of the auction house. No lights. Filthy. Her fur is matted and she can't keep warm. She is extremely thin. Her knee is huge. I am going back up there tonight w/a brush (so at least what fur she has can get unmatted and keep her warmer) and a blanket. O god, I hope I have one that will fit. Of course, there will a treat or 5 in my pocket too. This is my first glimpse of her.....broke my heart. It was so dark in there my flash didn't illuminate much. Sorry for the crappy quality of pics, but it's the best I could do

Kim, what do you want to do for Sarah and Miss Home Alone? Can Sarah get around with that knee? Do you have a way to get her out of there? I guess I just need to know how I can help.

sbhr.....Who owns the bay mare at this point? She is almost too skinny to go to slaughter. I would be willing to send in a little money to help if you need it. Can you foster her? Let me know! She looks terrible

No one owns the bay...she was abandoned at the auction house as well. Miss Home Alone might...just might have a home. We'll see tomorrow at the auction if thats true or not.
I don't have foster care for the bay. She needs a stall. She needs to be warm. I only have a small spot of pasture (could quarantine in) but it has no shelter.
I know there was interest regarding Miss Home Alone, but I am not sure what everyone wants to do with Sarah's Sweet Sorrow.
Does anyone have a warm stall?
Or a shelter I can borrow?
Or................

Or is she is such bad shape that a gentle end to her journey might be the best to offer? (She is soo skinny.. no wonder she is cold.)

Is there a boarding facility nearby that will let us board her there for a bit, until other arrangements are made?

How does she get around..does she need to be humanly euthanized..always better than going to slaughter.
I hope MHA has found her saviour.

Let me answer what I know in number format, it might be easier for my mind to handle. 1)I saw her walk, she was slow, but her knee bends. 2) I have a truck to haul with, if I can borrow a trailer. 3) I only have a small area w/no shelter. Yes, I can put her here, but I will need a temp shelter of some type. 4) I can call the auction house tomorrow and ask if I can move her then bring her different food etc. Board is $2.50/day there - maybe I can work something out with them.

Is there a boarding facility nearby that will let us board her there for a bit, until other arrangements are made? I will call around tonight to find out. I will even call Marysville horse rescue and see if they have an open stall. I will update when I have info to give.

Are they going to run her back through the auction tomorrow? The auction house manager (Julie) said no. I think she has been there for some time.

I'm also willing to help with these two. Would the auction owner be willing to give Sarah to us (or sell very cheap) as she is so thin?
