Well, all... I survived my first visit to the Livestock Auction!! It was SO great to get to meet SBHR (Kim) and Jaybird (Bonnie) in person! I have a lot to process now that all is said and done, so not much in the way of witty commentary, or any other kind. But I can tell you, that never have I seen such a transformation in the space of a few hours! It was so hard to leave Sarah behind. I could see Sarah thinking things over; she kept licking her lips, digesting her thoughts, and finally decided that yes...there was something to live for! She's a beautiful girl and sends you all her love. The light in her eyes is such a beautiful thing to see. I can hardly wait for you all to see it for yourselves!! Now Miss Home Alone.... that girl makes me smile. ;D

Thank you! lildun - for braving that scene...
and for bringing back reports of some light in Sarah's eyes.

I can't believe we DID it !!!!!!! I can't. but WE DID !! You guys are amazing. Thank you soo much!! Lildun and Jaybird and truly awesome as well. They both have this way with the forgotten ones that is out of this world!! Ldh and I got the auction person to convince the auction office manager to sell MHA to us. I am still amazed. Well.....we did have to 'hug' him for that. LOL. The story went like this. We'll call him "wilbur" to protect the innocent. Ok, Wilbur, are you going to buy that white horse (MHA). Wilbur..."dont' know yet" (it's 1:15pm) Me: "Um Wilbur....they are running the horses thru in a little over an hour" Wilbur..."yep" (me thinking....crap!! ) half hour passes Me: Hey Wilbur...you buying that white horse? Wilbur: "don't know" Me: "WILBUR!! Come ON!! Hey, why don't you sell her to me after you buy her? Come on...............!! You know you want to!" She's to tall to breed your mini stallion, what you gonna to do, hold him up there?" Wilbur: "yep" so, it went on like this. Finally, I convinced Wilbur that it would be a good idea to pass on her. He told us (LDH and I) to just go to the office and tell Julie the manager that we'd take her. I convinced him to go with us and tell her. Which he did.....she wasn't happy with him (which is why I wanted him to go in the first place-she wasn't happy with me either cuz I kept bugging her about MHA) She finally relented, and now here she is!! I am soo excited! Here she is...as a SAFE horse. Miss Home Alone, isn't she pretty?I'm tooo sexy for this stall...too sexy for this stall!!Jaybird and Miss Home AloneMMMM Good!!

Very well done. It would be pretty hard to argue with you three over a horse. Poor old Wilbur never knew what hit him.

Jaime it would be swell if you can haul the girls. My neighbor is gone for the holiday so I will be caring for her animals and settling in MHA. I am open to any time during day. It would be nice if both mares can move at the same time so no one feels left behind. Jaybird is willing to help also. Just let me know when to expect her and I will be ready. Thank You.

I will going to the auction house tonight after work to groom and love on the girls. I realize they will be going to foster homes soon and it will be more difficult for me to see them once that happens. Sniff.. I will also be there Thanksgiving morning. If there is any flexibility in the moving them to foster schedule, could we plan for Friday? If that doesn't work, it's all good. I would wish for them to get out of there soon than later. Thanks!!! kim

Ok, so the only problem that I see, is that the girls are going in opposite directions. Sarah is going north; Miss Home Alone is going south(?)

Hi All-
Great work on this group effort to save these two mares!. Kim has more details on their stories that she will share. I think I might have preferred Sarah's fate over MHA's...
Jaime is coordinating with Kim on picking them up at the auction site today. She will bring both of them to my neighbor's house. This neighbor will give them their morning feed and I expect to do the PM feed and cleaning. Any assistance will be greatfully accepted! She is not providing the feed so that will need to be handled by the group. Jaime is providing rice bran pellets to start plumping up Sarah.
On Sunday morning MHA's possible/probable former owner will be coming over to identify her. She says she knows in her heart that it is Cricket. She is profoundly grateful for all that you have done for Cricket and so many other horses. She is a decent person who fell on hard times and had too many horses to support. The people who bought Cricket a month ago claimed to be a forever home, yada, yada, yada...
She is bringing me photos of Cricket fully hitched that we can use in her adoption ad. Last Saturday I delivered Cricket's sire (a registered Andalusian) to his new home (he is now a gelding). I also know her dam (registered Paint). Registering her can be arranged either as an Azteca or Iberian Warmblood.
Jaybird has graciously commited to delivering MHA to her foster home up north on Sunday afternoon. I have a potential (good) home trying to squeeze in a visit with Cricket before she leaves. Once the rascally girl leaves, Sarah will stay and we will carry on from what Kim, Jaybird and Lildun have already accomplished.
I am very thankful to you all. Geri
