So cute! He's a stocky little fella, isn't he? Any thoughts on which stallion was dad?

Sampson is hilarious! He has decided he wants to be a racehorse when he grows up, and practices in his field as often as he can. He *loves* his ball and everytime he notices it he races over to it to give it a bite or a kick or a shove. He is a big boy, even next to his mama, wh's not exactly liliputian.

Sampson is doing great! He loves to play ball and it is the cutest thing to see him chasing that big blue ball around. He is still very mouthy but getting better about nipping at people now and responds to correction. Delilah still needs more weight and I am pouring feed into her, so hard to keep a nursing mare at a good weight when she was underweight to begin with. She is eating somewhere between 12-15 flakes of hay a day plus grain at night with added rice bran, alfalfa pellets, Cool Calories and oil.

Yes I know! I try to keep hay in front of her all the time now but she eats it so quickly...she will scarf 3 flakes in 30 minutes. She needs her teeth done, and now that Sampson is older I think she can get them done. The vet will be here today so I will ask her and maybe we can do it today.

Delilah did end up getting her teeth done today, and we figured out a way to do it with Sampson by doing it just outside the fence where he could still see and touch her and he was perfectly fine with that. She had quite a few sharp points and also one small wolf tooth which was removed.

It's been a while since I have given a Delilah and Sampson update! I will work on getting new pictures this weekend, he is GINORMOUS! He's a little monster but a cutie...and he is TURNING GRAY!!! Lots of white hairs all over his face and ears where he has shedded out. He is now just over 3 months old, can you believe it? I have decided that he will be weaned at 4 months, a bit earlier than I like to do it but he is really sucking the life out of poor Delilah, who is eating and eating and still looks skinny. He's very independent and she's not really all that interested in being a mother anyway, so I think it will be fine. Delilah already has a couple of people interested in her!

Haha, I said, and I quote, "If he turns gray, I am so adopting him." He is HUGE, his hip is probably 13hh already. Poor Mama, tho; he can be pretty rambunctious with her. Jumping on her neck. It's about time for updated photos of her, though. SHe is all shed out and a slick black bay.
