Nothing really going on with Hope. She is not really bagging up at all yet. I think we saw some edema there when she was at Julie's and for a day or two after she came back here but now there is nothing going on there at all - her udder looks just like the udder of a mare that has never had a foal before. I think its going to be a while....
We'll work on getting something set up for a name game and/or a guess the date/sex/color of the foal contest. Great ideas!

Whitewolf - all the mares and foals have been on LMF Development which is an excellent mare/foal feed. We had the babies on it and put all the mares on it as well as we knew they might possibly be pregnant. So, she's been getting just the right nutrition she needs. However, if you would like to donate a bag of that, we are burning through about 10 bags a week, so we can definitely use it! You can call in an order to Front Porch Feed and Mercantile in Sultan which is where I have been buying it. Thanks! Thanks! For all who would like to call in: Sultan Front Porch Feed and Mercantile (360)793-2372 Just an FYI, if anyone actually called in an order for us, can you please PM me? I was down there last weekend and they didn't have any record of any orders being called in so I want to make sure there wasn't any mixups if someone actually did call in an order for us. Thanks!

OMG! I was the one that suggested it, and then I totally spaced it. I will definitely get some on my next payday. This one went to my son's birthday party.
I'm so sorry! I'll PM you when I'm able to get some.

NO no...don't feel bad Crystal! I wasn't trying to guilt anyone into ordering feed, just wanted to make sure nothing got lost, if it had been ordered.

No, I know you're not just looking for handouts. I just feel airheaded for suggesting it and then forgetting all about it. Sounds like Hope's got a ways to go yet, so I'm sure there will be plenty more that you'll need. I'll make sure and get some the next chance I get!

Picture day! Hope is huge and looking very uncomfortable, but oh so pretty! Although her belly is huge, you can tell from this rear view and how her hip bones still stick out how skinny she still is: And, today we have some definite bagging up going on! I think it is time for Hope to have her own stall at night (which she won't like much) so I can start monitoring her:

I love her neck, sooo graceful. She reminds me of a ballerina, minus the preggo belly Let the Baby-Watch begin!

I'll make a 3 week prediction on her foaling date = May 20. I don't think the baby has "dropped back" and I don't yet see the tell-tale tail where the tailhead muscling turns to jello and the mare carries her tail higher than usual due to the ligaments loosening.
I do hope she is getting lots of walking exercise to help her muscles and circulation.
Poor gal, she'll probably feel about to burst before this is over.

I remember reading a few post about opinions that these horses were poorly bred, I beg to differ, she was stunning, and thanks to Safe will once again be her gorgeous self.

dbald - I also give her about that much time still, at least. But of course, I assume she is a maiden mare and as we know, they are not against surprising us! She is still on 24/7 pasture turnout right now. I will start bringing her in at night probably in another week or two, but she will still go out all day every day on pasture with a couple of other mares, so she gets plenty of movement. She doesn't like being locked in a stall and is a bit of a stall walker, so I will wait as long as possible to start bringing her in. And Tina, I think that person has changed her earlier opinion of the horses.

I used that for when my goats were getting rid to kid. You wouldn't believe the party these guys have all night long!
