I've been following the rescue stores on these SAFE forums. I'm so happy to hear that beautiful Hope went home! Although I never got to meet her, there is something about her kind, soft eye... congratulations to Bobbie. Wishing you many long and happy trails and years together.

Time flies like an arrow and fruit flies like banana’s… Wonderful, wonderful Hope. She is doing great. Before I go into any details I want to thank SAFE and all its friends, supporters and positive ‘vibesters’ for being… you. I have been nothing but impressed with the sincerity and dedication I’ve felt during my visits to SAFE. Your concerns for all your rescues are clarified in your message board dialogs….hours and hours of care. Between cyberspace and pastures you are doing something remarkable. Hope is a happy horse. She is alive and here because of the intangible qualities that underlie love, perseverance, elbow grease and shovels. I cannot look at her with thinking of her determination and yours…. Sometimes words are not so complete as a ‘nicker’. Hope has settled in with all the horses and family members at Kaelies Farm in Duvall. I have been a boarder there for a little over 2 years with my other horse ‘Lager’, a Vanner/Clydesdale cross. The two have become best pals in an atmosphere that is my home away from home. Hope and Lager are turned out together on a daily basis. Their pasture is large and sloped with a gorgeous stand of cedars for daytime protection from the elements. After her initial discomfort with her stall, Hope now finds the barn a rather good idea. She is usually ready at the gate when evening rolls around. She and Lager are across from each other plus the meals are good. Their routine is guided by the loving scrutiny of Jan Gerard. Her years of experience with ‘the horse’, has been serendipitous for me. I’m lucky to have her as a friend. All members of the family are part of the horse’s lives. Mae, Jan’s mother, is in charge of water, Alan, husband and daughter ‘El’, feed and the bring horses in for the night. Hope likes everyone and everyone loves her. OK … so we have love in place, family, horse friends and of course on-going attention to health. Hannah Evergreen, and Daphne Jones are respectively my veterinarian and farrier extraordinaire. I’ve been fortunate to have their council since purchasing Lager 2+ years ago. It’s natural that we continue with Hopes wellbeing. Before bringing Hope home I wanted to have Dr. Hannah give her a thorough vet check. We found Hopes flexion to be below average and so started her on a daily supplement and bi-weekly shots. The shots will extend into January when we’ll test again. I decided to hold off on riding until then and work on the ground. It’s been a good choice. Groundwork is a wonderful way to build her up while I observe her movement… see where and how she’s placing her feet. We focus on attention, mutual respect and relaxation. Also included is undemanding time, “hanging out” - she loves to investigate details of things around the farm… sometimes they are scary, but her curiosity is incredible and allowing her to investigate at her own rate of absorption is fun. She looks forward to our sessions …. if Lager goes first, she’s waiting at the fence for her turn. She’s a hoot. Best of all I think the supplements are working. Her stride is smoothing out and so are her turns. My thoughts on stiff joints are appreciative of her difficult years prior to her rescue and what must have been a taxing pregnancy. (Scotti is a wonder!) --- It’s a new beginning that will develop a good partnership for both of us. As we work towards riding I am benefiting from Hopes experience with her previous training. Every now and then she’ll let me know... “Oh, I know this one, there… do you like it”. She’s a smart girl. Following are some pictures – please enjoy – Thank you Thank you Best to all, Robbi and Hope

This has been my first message board experience. Now that I'm getting the hang of it I'll be quicker at the process of keeping in touch via the forum. I'll give Hope a big Hello from everyone when I see her tomorrow. Happy Horsen'!
