The sale is on the 13th at Jaime's farm. The tack cleaning will begin the same day before the actual sale and during the actual sale. I know nothing about advertising...

Woo! I got the 13th off so I'll be out there to help all day. Any word on what my boyfriend suggested with the manure pile? $3-$5 a bag would be about right, and I'm sure people would buy at least some of it.

Well Mike's been putting ads on Craiglist and people have been coming and coming for manure for the last couple of weeks! And last weekend a guy came by and said he'd take it ALL. I'm not sure its worth the trouble of bagging it and selling it...I would just be thrilled if we got rid of it all for free, as in the past I have paid $1000/year to have it removed by a removal service. I'd like to get a manure spreader at some point to at least recycle some of it.

If there's still some there on Tack sale day (cuz we never actually run out right?) We could offer a BYOBag and take it away for a buck a bag maybe? Shoot, I just threw out my nice pellet feed sacks, I hung on to them for quite awhile and I bet those would have made dandy haul-away manure bags...not that *I*need any but I could have brought the bags along in case someone else wanted some... recently my grandson commented that one of the horses was "manurering" ....because a few years ago I told him that manure was a nicer way to say poop....you can only imagine the various ways that Manure has worked its way into conversations ever since... hmmmmm, Manure....what a subject for the day AND...speaking of Craigs List...do we have anything posted there about the Tack Sale?Event day?Donations? etc???

I have some things to donate. I can bring them out to Jaime's "day of" so they don't have to take up space until then. I suspect we can get lots of last-minute donations if there is a volunteer (or two) to accept, price and tag things. I might be able to be one of those people, though not all day.
As far as bagging the poop, one horse can fill a bag a day - they do a lot of "manurering." Even when my neighbor took pickup loads home from Edensgate, that didn't do much to shrink the pile. Not to have to pay to haul it away is a victory - maybe the surge in vegetable gardening is changing the dynamics of the manure market, though!

***REMINDER***Tack cleaning day is June 6 at around 11. Bring your tack cleaning supplies. We have a few saddles to clean. We need storage for the tack. I can take some but there is not much storage room at my house. If volunteers can take some of the stuff with them and bring it back on the 13th that would be awesome! We also need to have transport from Julie's house to SAFE for the saddles we need to clean.

We have flyers for the tack sale now! Jet and Emily and I all have it - so PM if you would like it emailed to you. It would be great if a number of people could commit to taking them to local tack stores, etc and posting them.

For SURE!!! Get them up at the boarding barns and community bulletin boards everywhere! Don't forget....we're still taking donations ...and if you're a non-owner Equine Rescue supporter, you can BAKE or EAT, so please come by the tack sale either way
