So I'm going to randomly pick a time of 1pm to meet at Edensgate to pick up the tack. Hopefully that will not get anyone out too early or eat into the evening too much. Julie told me that she took a look at the stuff under the tarp and it's already showing mold so it's good she reminded us it was there so we can get it out and cleaned up, otherwise we could have continued to keep it there. I'd like to thank Julie for housing this stuff for us over the winter! I was thinking that an early May (not 5/2 though...that's Derby Day!) or late April might be a good time to hold it. That way it's passed the Art Show and just prior to the (hopefully...praying...) Good riding weather of Summer. Emily is going to help organize this project as I'm pretty tied up until after the Art Show ... THANK YOU, Emily so unless there are any objections.... Saturday - March 7th 1:00pm Edensgate Farm - I guess I better get the physical address!

Okay - So here is what I am thinking... We want to the tack sale to be in May, correct? What about the weekend of the 23rd? That gives us a couple of weekends to tag and clean. Do we have an idea for a Venue? I can start looking and making calls. I think we should do a sort and clean on the weekend of the April 18th if that is not too soon. That way we can get some of the mold off the saddles and get a first coat of oil on the saddles. We can meet early to grab tack and bring it to the arena to get started with cleaning. I can also start to call blanket cleaners to see if they will donate time, cleaning, etc? Do we have a buget for this? Ideas? Suggestions?

My goodness. I didn't even realize that. That is what I get for looking at my calendar without the holidays written in. Guess that weekend won't work. How about the first weekend in June? I know there are a couple big horse shows we will be competing with on the other weekends in May.

I know Jet is busy 6/7. I say we do it the weekend of June 13th. Unless there is a MAJOR issue, then that would be best for all around. I don't know of any holidays or horse events that weekend we would be competing with. I am thinking we should at least get a good list of what we have and get an idea of if we can take on more. Put up fliers, get adds out on the boards, etc. for donations. How does this sound? We then can schedule a cleaning day or two for a weekend in advance so that we can have freshly cleaned/oiled stuff for the sale. We can try to get a couple of the blanket services to chip in for free cleaning. Sound good?

The 13th is good for me as well, seeing as how i might need to deliver a few things to whatever site we choose, as there is quite a bit at my house. When i originally picked up the tack from Julie's to transport it to my house, we went through the 'passion house' (that is what it's called, right?) and there is a good amount of stuff still there (most of the blankets, halters, boxes of random stuff). I have several saddles at my house, and some of the other items that could be cleaned and polished. Anyway, moral of the story is, any blankets will need to be picked up from Jaime's to be cleaned, but the tack cleaning party could take place at my house, assuming the weather is nice.
I was thinking of making an inventory of the items at my house, which may be mostly pictures since i am not very tack saavy (sort of new to this horse thing!). But it might be nice advertising on the board to have the photos of some of the bigger ticket items up in advance.
So are we thinking the first weekend in june (the weekend before the proposed tack sale) for a tack cleaning party? I am available that weekend as well.
p.s. If anyone has a desire to outfit all of the horses in their barn in orange (like, construction worker orange) blankets, there'll be a great supply of them at the tack sale!

Official! The tack Sale is June 13th! ;D We can bring beer for the birhthday and consume it while doing clean up. Beer, cake, making money for SAFE and Birthdays all go together!. Mass Tack cleaning shall be done! I am thinking we need to do a couple of weekends. How many saddles, bridles, etc. are we looking at? I am game for keeping some stuff at my place too if needed. I will contact Tracy's Clothes line and Blanket Express to see if they would like to be generous to us. Do we have official letterhead to send a fancy smancy letter to them? PM me for my phone digits! Yay!!!!

Is this tack sale of just donated items or are we doing consignments too? What would the fee be?

It's on my calendar, and Fresh Girl Refreshments will set up if it's warm weather and sell Lemonade etc., with profits going to SAFE. Mixed with beer, it's not bad.

1. On sale day June 13th - Volunteers to be at Jamie's at 8 sale to start at 10. We will go until 4.
2. NO consignments. Donations only. Accept donations to be dropped off the day we are cleaning/tagging. That day is June 6 at around 11. Bring your tack cleaning supplies. We have a few saddles to clean. We need storage for the tack. I can take some but there not much storage room at my house. If volunteers can take some of the stuff with them and bring it back on the 13th that would be awesome! We also need to have transport from Julie's house to SAFE for the saddles we need to clean.
3. For the other rescues. They are okayed for tables. If they want to give SAFE a portion of their profits, cool, if not then cool too. This is per Jamie.
4. We need tables. Put out the word.
5. We need tags to tag the tack. Jet may have some, but may not. I can pick some up too.
Okay kids. That is what needs to get done and when it can get done. Put out the word at your barn, tack store, etc. Let me know if you guys need anything else! Emily
