;D YAY! SOO cute! Look at the look in her eyes, it matches your son's! It's a pony/kid Mutual Appreciation Society!

She is a snack hound... she won't search me but she knows the kids have been hiding baby carrots in their pockets AND their boots so she starts nosing at their feet then tickles them all the way up to their chins each in turn to see who has what for her. Quirky little bugger She has even grown on my non-horsey husband enough for him to want to get a bit more involved the kids' new hobby!

That is so wonderful!!! Nothing better than a sweet pony for the kids and to get the non-horsey husband involved is awesome!!! I will be looking for that perfect pony for my boy in a year or so as he definitely is an animal lover just like his momma.

i just figured i wouldn't push mine and if they liked it they liked it and if they didn't they could go fishing with daddy while i went riding... but when I got Dolly last summer they all fell in love with her and wanted to ride, ride, ride... when i took the kids to emerald downs not long after for one of those sunday family days they absolutely went nuts for the ponies so i promised i'd get them one if they were good (interest is interest and my mare had had a pet pony where she came from before so i figured great i can rescue one AND have a companion for her)... Dina was well worth the wait always a good feeling when they pick up the good animal loving habits! i hope you find one as sweet as her!

I can get my hubby to feed the horses on his way out the door in the morning, but that's the extent of it. I figure that he might be a little more involved if our son likes to ride as well; which at this point, he loves the horses and likes to sit on them, too...tells me, mommy up, please, whenever he thinks he has an opportunity to sit on a horse. ;D Yes, that would be great to find the perfect rescue pony when the time comes!!

We weren't sure what color she was going to shed out to be... and we still have no clue! But she is shedding like crazy.. I'm pretty certain I could have made a mini out of what came off her last night. She is still gaining weight and her attitude is wonderful - we just love her to death. MY 4 year old thinks she is the coolest thing on the planet. The other night he told one of my husband's friends - not 'I have a pony' but instead "My best friend is a pony and she loves me and I love her" it was so adorable. I'll get some new pics up soon

What was going to be a "quick curry" yesterday turned into a 2 hour grooming session with clippers and wool scissors. I had brushed her underbelly before of course but not really felt of it deeply with my fingers until yesterday and I was a little shocked... from between her front legs back under and up to her flank was one big mat! Like a long haired cat that had been rolling in poop and having not been brushed for 3 years It had obvioiusly been this way so long that new hair had grown in over the top and hung straight so it wasn't at all visable until very close inspection. I have seen hair problems before but not like that... was a little unexpected and I felt bad that I hadn't checked it sooner but having never come across it before I didn't really think to look (more proof you can learn something new everyday). She stood very well for the whole process of cutting about 5 lbs of hair and matted poop off her then I went ahead and shaved a bridle path since her mane was so thick her halter wasn't fitting right. As soon as I let her out in the pasture she took off bucking with her ears up.. it was probably so nice to not have all that pinch. She rolled and ran like she was a totally different pony. I apologize in advance for the photos as soon as I post them because right now she looks much like a goat chewed on her from all the cutting but she feels MUCH better now!

Finally got some new pictures Sorry, I am one of those camera happy people... We Love Our Pony - Tucker getting Dina to back on his own - A shot of how I had to cut right to her skin to get those mats out cause they were sooo bad I don't envy her haircut but she sure feels better - JJ, Dina and her pile of hair - Ham Shot -

Those pictures are great! When it comes to our kids and our animal "kids" it is hard not to be camera happy. Too cute!
