Dina's owner has been rescuing horses out of auctions for some time, rehoming them, and going back for more. SAFE is assisting her with finding homes for four of her current rescues. I got Dina and Chuck about 2 weeks ago and they were in BAD shape. The pony is the better of the two. They came from a lady who got them from another lady in Monroe. The lady I got them from was taking them to an auction so I met her there and bought them from her for 200 bucks. The pony is the sweetest thing you will ever meet!! She is very old but not arthritic. She is blind in her left eye but you would never know it!! I almost think she is a mini. Perfect ground manners. LOVES people. Is still on the thinner side but getting fatter with everyday. She eats orchard gras hay and senior horse. Dina is UTD on shots, farrier, worming, and teeth care. She is a chocolate palomino and about 12 hands. Owner was told she was broke, probably fine for leadlining small children. Located in Shelton, WA Adoption Fee: $Free to Excellent home Contact SAFE at adopt@safehorses.org for more information on Dina.

Dina pretty much resembles a little fuzzy Ewok right now (nothing a lot of love and rubber curry won't fix) but her weight is FAR better than the condition she was in when I met her the first time. She is completely blind in her right eye and vision is starting to go in her left but she is very trusting and mellow. When Jaybird brought her back she hopped right into the trailer after Buck with no issues and was very happy to see my mare and the other 2 horses on the place. My mare, Dolly, used to be stabled with pony and took an immediate liking to Dina with the feeling she had to protect her new friend from those other big, bad, nasty horses - not letting them within 20 ft of Dina's fence. She was still standing guard at Dina's gate when I went to feed this morning. Dolly was so stubborn about it I ended up having to move her feed tub. Dina is quite a little talker and was very enthusiastic about having her blanket removed and getting a good 1/2 hour groom session *nicker nicker - rub, lean... nicker* I'll get some pictures up soon

Awww, KCG, it sounds like she's settling right in! And I love how Dolly has claimed Dina as "hers". ;D
