His new name is Kramer. When I have him registered I will be changing his name. He was suppose to be FW Shamal per the breeder and that's a lot better than his current regi name.
I don't know where to post this but I would like to offer my help with helping any of his babies register or obtaining any papers of the half arabs or purebreds that have come from this seizure. It's really not all that hard to do, and it does make it easier to find homes.

I am interested in how you are going to get him registered in your name. Did Jean sign him over to the county when they took possession? Did you get the papers from them?

To get him signed over, I contacted AHA to get a bypass registration that they have specifically for this situation. I needed the following: -sale contract between the county/rescue and me -current pictures showing all markings -letter of opinion from attorney in a specific format saying that I legally own this horse -Oh yeah, and $115 to process the whole thing
They will redo his paperwork and sign me as the new owner. The old papers will be worthless. I do not need Elledges signature. They are aware of the rescue as well plus I have support from Kramer's breeder down in Texas. He has a damaged ear and he's DNA typed so proving who he is wasn't been an obstacle.

That is so great. I know AHA can be very picky on registration transfers. Do you have other registered Arabians?

I have no personal gain/interest in the registering process w/AHA because we'll probably never find out about Coconut's breeding history however, when there was a time that we were searching through the registry and the Elledge horses trying to find out if she was one of the missing ones, I often wondered if the AHA or any other breed org could ban her w/a conviction or guilty plea?
Just another way to discourage her from obtaining horses and breeding in the future. I hate to say this but unless someone monitors her for the rest of her life I am afraid she will get more horses eventually.

Yes, I have two other Arabians. Out of the 4 that I've had in my life, 3 were rescues from really bad situations. I had papers on all, but only two were really easy.
As far as I know AHA has no way to ban bad owners. Which is too bad because you can get suspended for many other things. It does make some sense though because most suspensions are made through USEF which basically only bans you from showing, not registering your horse.
It takes a while to master the registry. I've gotten really good at finding horses. If you know any info on your horse and can draw the markings for me I can help you look. Always fun to know:-)

Typically the breed registries will let you get replacement papers on a horse you can prove was legally seized due to neglect/abuse. They understand that it is always in a horse's best interests to be registered and have his papers with him. The tough situations are when a seller fails to provide papers or a horse is sold on consignment and you have trouble getting papers from the actual owner.

Should probably mention to you all as well, those who looked a the gallery anyway. The chestnut saddlebred/arab gelding is also an Elledge horse. His name is GYPSY KNIGHTS BODHRAN and his current owner purchased him from Elledge when he was young because she felt bad for him (skinny.) The AHA registry use to have Elledge as his breeder but they now pulled it out (?) He's out of Olympic Spirit by FM Knight Flame. How small this world can be....

I've had the boy for a little over a month now, and he's now broke to ride (though still very green by my standards). He's just been great. We have a really good bond and he's exceeded all of my expectations. I just love him, and I'm really looking forward to the years ahead with him. Best thing of all is that he's only five, so there will be many:-) Here is a link to a gallery of photos of him from Ocean Shores. pictures.aol.com/galleries/fanaberia

Those photos are beautiful. It is a dream of mine to ride on the beach, so I love to see the pictures. He is a stunner, I love his chrome!
What happened to his ear??

His daddy bit the tip of his ear off when he was a baby. They were next to each other in stalls and playing. Ironically, the same thing happened to his dad. When the tip of the ear is damaged it usually bends forward or back.... so even though just a tiny bit is gone, it folded.

"The Dude" went to his first show this weekend. The pictures tell all about how "wild" this little five year old was.... Didn't show him, just wanted for him to experience the chaos. I've never had a horse be that quiet before. What a man! :-) .... and then 6 more people came in a posed for the same shots. Oh those wild Arabs of mine!
