Hi all. Long time no see. I thought you might enjoy a little update on Desi. We're having an October blizzard and the horses have been cooped up since Tuesday night. Here's the barn: Desi takes the plunge through the wall of snow: He decides to taste some of the white stuff: ...and left some bite marks: He is very bored so engaged me in his favorite game, called "Betcha can't grab my tongue."

Cute! I had an OTTB who LOVED to have you play with his tongue.

OMG, here I've been complaining about the RAIN! I can't imagine having to deal with a wall of snow in October!
But Desi is as adorable as ever. He obviously has such a goofy personality. Thanks for the update!

he is just gorgeous boy! DOn`t you love those red heads? I would trade your snow for our horrible rain and mud in second though...

That picture with the two snow bites -- Priceless.
Malina...
We hear you. You can move snow, you can't move rain.

Well it is all melting very fast now, so there is a LOT of mud. I do think I prefer the occasional snowstorm punctuated by sunny days to perpetual rain. That sounds depressing.
Desi is the resident clown and prankster so he keeps me amused. He has been very healthy this year, and has gone from lean to almost plump (for him) after starting him on a new alfalfa-grass mix hay.
I didn't ride him much this year, mostly due to time constraints. We weren't getting along very well early in the year, and I got involved in showing a horse and breaking in another, and then Desi started pulling shoes and being difficult to shoe, so I decided to give up and let him go barefoot again -- that was a long transition. Now that he's feeling better winter is coming, so...

Hey all, It's been quite awhile since my last update. Desi finally got his teeth properly floated and all his vaccinations. Over that past two years he had grown increasingly difficult and wouldn't let the vet get near him. I had to hire a trainer to come work with him. She has been a great help. I wouldn't call him easy but we managed to get him done, and I took some pictures. Desi also has developed a wool allergy, which I discovered after weeks of him throwing temper trantrums under saddle (because of his sheepskin lined saddle pad). He had most of the fall, winter and spring off. This started when I pulled his shoes and he was foot-sore. Then the weather got cold, and in December I had surgery and had to take three months off from riding. It wasn't until May that I got back on him. He used to like the sheepskin pad but over time developed an allergy to it. Bless his heart for not bucking me off! Here are photos from his dental appointment. Enjoy. The nice trainer is the gal in the hat: Nice extra toofer: You may never see him this way again: Oh, and that same day I discovered he had a man boob:

His man boob has shrunk, but I'll keep the redneck fly mask in mind in case it happens again. ;D
