What I find so amazing is - from the start the eyes tell the whole story. Scared, nervous, anxiuos, fear, flight all those emotions...bit by bit the eyes soften & become trusting and then you see 'Iwant to' shining through! Magic in the hands of respect & love!

Just got viewing all the pics nice to see the faces that go with the words. I first want to say you all did fantastic. And my favorite of the group is Honeycutt and he is just so pretty and I think western is perfect for him, he is stunning!!!! What a body
And ace is very pretty but he looks so scared and looks like he made improvements too and patience I followed that link very closely and she is just adorable. That little pony was sure cute too. They all looked so healthy and fit, thanks for sharing the pics

speaking of Honeycutt, he's a beauty I have had my eyes on for months, and I am so in love with the SeaHorse on his face, but I was under the impression he was wild and untamed, unridable. It appears in the pics that he took to a saddle and mounted quited nicely after a little encouragement.
So what is the deal with this handsome boy? Does he seem to have the basics, or is he totally green? There was mention in his thread that he may have been used as a bucking horse/rodeo horse previously.
HUH?

The trainers do not believe HC was every bucking stock, nor do they believe he had ever had any saddle traininer. So, I would put him as totally green but he has a great mind and really wants to do well. He's quite the hottie too!

I"m not sure where you got he was wild and untamed, he's never been that - just very very skittish and it appears that someone hit him at some point as his reaction to raising a hand towards him is to flinch or jump away. The bucking horse was just a theory - no way to know for sure but he did buck pretty seriously the one time I did try to ride him. It was also supported by the fact that he has two numbers branded up on his butt. However, the good news is he does not appear to have been a bucker, but was definately unbroke. He's now had two rides on him - that would qualify him as barely started, but he definately needs more rides on him to be even green broke.
He is a sweet boy and wants to please, and he is much more relaxed about people since the clinic!

Schwung warned me while I was at the clinic...to touch Honeycutt is to fall in love with him. Well, I got to spend some time with him and it makes me wish I were a more accomplished horsewoman. If I was, I'd take him in a flash...he is that special and that sweet natured. He needs an experienced rider/horse person...but whoever that lucky person is, they will be amply rewarded...because Honeycutt is very special and deserves only the best. I wish I could take him...really, I think he is a marvelous horse and a hunk to boot.

Tonight HC actually approached me when I went to water, and stood and nuzzled my ear while I pet him. Total change!

Wow. I love to see some of my favorite horses doing so well. Patience, Ace and Azelea. I have followed them all for some time now.
Your clinic looks like it was such a sucess. Do you plan on having another one?

Trillium, we are talking about doing another clinic but don't know any details yet.
I notice you are in Oregon City - another one of the trainers we were lucky enough to use for Basset, Bill Basham, is giving a clinic in October at Foxfire Farm in Eagle Creek, but it isn't a SAFE clinic. He's a protege of Buck Brannaman's and he's awesome.
I hope to bring my own gelding to that - if you want more information PM me.

Well, it's good to hear that HC most likely wasn't a bucking horse. I think he is so handsome and well built. He is just so photogenic, to see him in person would be really impressive.
Good luck with him. I would still like to take him, just dont have the room yet. I would just love to help him mature into a great endurance horse, long overnight trail rides might be his thing, you never know.

Last night both HC and Trey came running in from the far back of the pasture at full speed. Wow, HC is FAST!! I mean, really, really fast! He left poor Trey choking on his dust. He's very athletic, I think he could do anything, except maybe western pleasure. I just couldn't see him as a peanut-roller.
