Ok - I have now had Chewy - my confirmed Cribber - on that Dynamite Miracle Clay for a little over a week now...and I SWEAR I am seeing a reduction in cribbing. I had always noticed that his cribbing increased whenever he ate his meals and especially when being given treats. If you took too long fishing out the next treat he would literally walk away to go crib. I attributed this to 2 possibilities - 1 being stomach issues that somehow cribbing alleviated or 2) that much like a smoker - it intensified the enjoyment of the treat.
I would CONSERVATIVELY say that during meals (especially the grain portion of the meal ) I am seeing a 50 - 60 % reduction in cribbing and probably at least a 70% reduction in the time spent cribbing when it does occur.
He is still cribbing - no doubt about that - but I am absolutely STUNNED on the reduction and how QUICKLY I am seeing a result.
If you have one similar to mine - give it a shot. Just wish they made it in industrial drum size! Makin' a believer out of me!

There is some documentation that cribbing is caused/increased by ulcers. Because Miracle Clay is supposed to be good for reducing ulcers I am guessing that it's why you are seeing a reduction. How exciting!!!! I had a cribber this year that I tried a few supplements on (gastroguard is too darn expensive) now I wish I'd tried the Miracle Clay.

Oh believe me - I have tried all the collars and it just wasn't right for him. I ended up covering his stall door with vinyl liner to help protect his teeth. AND - every time he cribs - I no longer hear that grunting sound - I hear CHA-CHING as he chips away at my fencing (plus he has designated himself as "Official finder of loose boards" or "Official Creator of loose boards" so the "Official FINDER of loose boards" can yank them down. My 3 board fencing is starting to look like some algebraic equation... is that a greater than or less than sign??? hmmmmm

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who has a cribber and will give her the suggestion.

While Sione was at Shelly's she started cribbing, it was determined that she may have an ulcer, she was started on Miracle clay at shellys which was helping, now I use the clay once a day and U-guard mixed with soaked timothy pellets twice a day. If Chewy has a possible ulcer, I've been told timothy or grass hay is best during treatment, no alf . Sione has not cribbed once since she has been home.

I do feed him and Redmond both a flake of grass and a flake of alfalfa twice a day and just bought a 50/50 mix of Alf and Orchard grass (whereas I had been feeding the timothy but they both starting turning their noses up at the Timothy - fussy TB's!) But they love love love their alfalfa! Thanks for passing that on to me - I've been toying around with maybe getting him scoped but hate the thought of the trip to the clinic. I will talk to his vet about the Alfalfa thing to make sure I can keep his wieght up on other hay/grain.

I read up on ulcers and found that TB's are more prone to them, and I found the U-Guard is very successful and cures about 74% studied, so, between the two products and the soaked pellets, safechoice and cool calories and Timothy/orchard hay she is doing great.
modified to add, trust me she wants the alfalfa, I crumble a few tiny leaves into her hay for flavor.

Yes, those fussy TB's...argh! I go through the same thing....they do like the chocolate chip cookies instead of eating their veggies though! I try and get away with only feeding a little bit of alfalfa, and when I feed the grass, I get the the "what is this" look, Raina sniffs it, and then walks away to let me know that she is not happy with what has been given...

Sione started cribbing when she was here right after being wormed with a chemical wormer. Once I figured out that she might have an ulcer, had quit cribbing after only 2 doses of the Miracle Clay.
MTA: Redmond, I'm not sure if you are giving the Clay in its activated form (paste) or not, but that is what I would suggest, and feed it at least 20 minutes before a meal so it can coat the stomach lining.

Actually - I've been making a mustard consistency from the powder and putting a couple good squirts on his grain. Should I portion off a little grain ahead of the meal or how did you feed just the paste? Thanks!!
