Hello! Guess I'm the newest kid on the block. My name is Coleen Burdge and I have been in love with horses forever. My dream was to adopt a mustang from the round up - unfortunately I was raised mostly in the city although my mother's family are mostly country folk down in Georgia. So, I did the next best thing - dreamed and learned to draw (been out of practice lately). My love for animals didn't stop with horses. I have a dog in my life pretty much constantly. I was blessed to be able to raise alpacas for almost 5 years. I learned so much and miss my boys so much. I also raised angora rabbits at the same time. We sold our place with the thought to move up from one acre, but that didn't happen. I volunteered for a while at a horse rescue up in Marysville, however, from Monroe that was quite a trip. Not to mention I didn't get a lot of support from my husband who doesn't really care for animals (husband is now on his way out of my life). More recently, I did some probono logo work for a dog rescue in Graham - Valhalla Rescue. I adopted a little cinnamon rat terrier who was my baby even coming to work with me (can't exactly do that with a horse). After just a few months she went blind suddenly and Valhalla took her back as I was beginning my divorce and moving out of my house. They had to have her put to sleep because she ended up with a brain tumor So now, I am in a small apartment with my three boys, a geko, and two fish longing for the peace and acceptance from a warm blooded friend - (this is not an add for a new husband - tee hee, hee). Can't wait to get back on my feet - recovering from removal of a tumor in my femur - so I can get more involved. Until then - I'm available to help in anyway needed.

Hi everyone! I'm Taylor! ;D I have been taking riding lessons for 4 years. I ride a horse named Star (my avatar) and she is an Appaloosa mare (I don't remember how old, I think 14?). I was going to be in a SAFE horse show with my riding instructor, but she had a rodeo conflict that day Maybe sometime I'll get to be in a SAFE show though! It looks like fun on here and it looks like that a lot of horses are being saved thanks to this organization. Glad to be here! ;D

Hi, my name is Tanner. Horses are my life, and I love doing whatever I can to help horses be happy and healthy. I hope to volunteer for SAFE sometime in the near future. I used to take lessons and lease at KCJ stables in Federal Way, the same place as where Taylor and Jet are at . I now have my own horse, and since Federal Way is too far of a drive, I board her at a place closer to where I live. I hope to get involved with SAFE and do whatever I can to help

Welcome Missyskye Glad to have you here and I'm excited to know you've got a spot in your heart for rescues....it's truly one of the most challenging and rewarding things you'll ever do. There's much to learn here from the people who've made it their LIFE, not just a life goal. Pay attention and you'll be a better person & equestrian because of it. Welcome to the Message board!

Hello All,
I've been on these forums for a while popping in every once a month or so to see how things are. I joined the forums back when all the Saddlebreds were taken in Carnation and we were planning on fostering a couple of them out at a property I was working. Unfortunately that woman who owns that property and I don't get along anymore and I was forced to leave. That has been a curse and a blessing all in one. I ended up selling all my horses, most of them to her, to get out of that place so as of right now, I have no horses.
On the good side of things, I was visited by an angel around my birthday who has agreed to help me by investing into my business. And just this last month we found the perfect property to start our business, a 15 acre parcel of property butted up to a 178 acre proposed horse park located right off 512. You take the Canyon Road exit, head North and take a left on 94th, it's minutes from the freeway! The property currently has 34 stalls but has permits and plans set up for an additional 60 stalls to be built and has been approved all that's left is the construction.
Now, I never planned on having this big of a property but late a week ago after finding out that my dad's brain tumor was again growing but faster and that he may pass, I was talking to my partner and told him that I wanted to carry out my dad's dream in helping people. I always help people anyway but my dad went beyond anything I ever thought I could do. So I dropped most of my breeding and showing plans (I still plan to, just not to the extent I was going to) and am working out plans for the barns and what I want to do with them. I'm not going to post specifics, because there are a lot of things that need to be worked out but we plan on reopening a 4-H group in Pierce County and rescuing horses from auctions along with opening our doors to SAFE (once the details are worked)
It's exciting I know. I can't wait really. So there's my story. If you want to chat, send me a message!

Hi there! I Just joined the SAFE message board and thought I would introduce myself. I am a horse owner and animal lover living in Redmond, WA. Although Quinn is my first horse, I've always been horse crazy - just never had the opportunity to own until a couple of years ago. I am a foster parent for dogs and cats - but not horses... yet ;D Here are pictures of some of the furries:
