Welcome Rockaway!! I do cat and dog rescue down in Los Angeles, I wish I could say that they have things under control here, but the mayor did just sign a mandatory spay/neuter bill last week. Hopefully that will make a difference...
We're thrilled to have you here...sounds like you have done a lot of work for all kinds of animals. And I agree 100% that people should know what they are getting into when they get a horse, it was certainly eye opening for me when I began looking after my first...I still learn something new everyday.

Hello everyone!! My name is Carmen, I have 3 horses, 2 arabians, and now Bella (aka Pip) who is a quarterhorse and maybe some Tb in there. I am married with 1 gorgeous daughter, and 3 dogs. We live in Olalla, and I own Zacher Transport Services, and I haul ANYTHING!! From horses to Tractors, you name it , I haul it. A little more about our horses. Calgazr, my baby, is a black full arabian, coming 8 years old, just fresh out of training and gelding. He is my pride and Joy!!! You will find us at Banner Forest ALOT!!! Prancer, this is my daughters baby. He is 13 years old and is bay with a mane to die for!! Prancer has 9 years 4H and pony club expereince and was a rescue that I bought about 2 months ago. You would never know he was skinny now!! Bella (aka Pip) My pretty girl of the herd. She is about 2 1/2 years old. and very new to the herd. She is recovering from burns on her back, and very skinny. She will be better than new in no time!! We also have 3 dogs, 2 pitts and 1 aussie. All three are big DORKS!!! I probably shouldn't say it, but they would all give you everything in the house if we weren't here as long as you pet them!!

OOps I just noticed this thread so I figured I would post as well.
My name is Ashley and I volunteer for HyTyme Equine Rescue in Eagle Creek OR. We love SAFE so we started posting over here. I live in Portland OR and my full time gig I am a vet tech for a local vet and have been for the past 15 years....yes I am a lifer! I have a loving horse tolerant husband and 2 boys. We have 4 dogs, 2 cats, 4 chickens and a tortoise.
I started out rescuing horses way back when when I found COTH on the internet and adopted my first horse through CBER, Hawkeye a 25 yr old TB. He could not be ridden so we found an excellent retirement home for him about 20 mins from my house, he is doing great! He lives with Brunhilda a horse I re-rescued from CBER they are in LOVE!!! I am currently mom to Atticus (16 yr old grey QH) from the feedlot and Oslo (10 yr old Fjord/QH cross) from the feedlot. I also rescued a 9 yr old Belgian Stallion from the auction, his name is Finn and he is a gelding now, he finally got adopted and is living on a Xmas Tree Farm in Sandy OR.
I have worked for Hytyme for about 2 years now and I love it. We are constantly growing, changing and learning. The volunteers & owners are great and we love the horses. It is very rewarding work. Our facility is under construction right now as we are building a 100X200 steel arena, so we look kinda dusty, but when it is done it will be GREAT!!! We have 70 acres and currently about 40 horses (it was a bad winter for owner surrenders around here, hay being so expensive), so we are in spring time clean up, tune up and get adopted mode!! If you ever want to come visit, email me!!
Thanks to SAFE for having such a nice BB, it is nice to see everyone working together for the horses!! ;D

Hello, my name is Jana and I go by Minimom on all the boards that I am on, which is cber, sos, and now this one. I have rescued 3 horses since november and lost 2 of them already. One was Popeye and the other was Bashful. Popeye coliced and Bashful died before I got him out of QT. I really believe he died of a broken heart. I still have the third one and her name is Splash. I am sure some of you know me from the other boards. I also have 9 miniatures. Just found this board so thought I would join. Jana

Welcome Jana!! I am sorry to hear of the horses you lost. But it is a special person to take in and offer a home to a horse in need. Anyway, glad to see you here and feel free to share photos of your horses (and your minis)!

Hi All,
I have been looking at SAFE for awhile and have been pleased with what I have seen. Thank you for doing what you do.
I rescued a horse back in 1980 (I was a little kid and it took a lot of people, actually) back when there was no support like you folks. I had him for almost 25 years.
Now we have 4 horses, two Arabs, a gelding and his mother that the breeder just dumped on us, a QH mare and a mini mare. Quite a diverse bunch.
Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Hi Honeydofarm! Are you the maker of the "do" list or are you the doer? ;D Welcome to the board. If you were a little kid in the 80s you must be a tad younger than me. Kudos to you!!! Rescuing a horse as a kid is a lot different than bringing home a stray cat or dog - what a great thing you did, and how excellent that he/she lived with you another 25 years. There's a thread in the "general" section called "post your pictures" (or something like that) - feel free to post pics of your horses/dogs/etc!

Hello my name is christal and I live in Knappa oregon...12 miles outside of Astoria I am newly re-married,not to the same guy...lol. I have 4 children and am also mommy to 3 cats and my two big babies Tango and Change....I used to just look around but decided to join. I can't stand to see horses or any other animal suffer and thought gosh if I can help then I should!! We live on 6.5 acres and my new hubby built me a two stall barn...he's toooo smart he said I only get two or there would be tooo many horses!!! I am looking to re-home my TB as I just don't have the confidence I used to have with him. I leased him out last year and just got him back I had, had a auto accident and knee injuries and a back injury so I am afraid of coming off and re-injuring myself. But I am on the look out for a super trail mare...one that I can teach my 7 yr. old daughter to ride on. That's my story...I hope to make lots of new friends and hopefully even adopt a rescue or help rescue down the road...

Hello, I live in snohomish, and have volunteered (and done foster care) at PAWS for the last 4 years. Admittedly, that's just with cats and dogs, but i do what i can to help! I have always been a horse lover, but by the cruelest twist of fate, was severely allergic to horses when i was younger. I had to settle with collecting far too many breyer horses instead of enjoying the real thing! Anyway, I am now on my second round (3 years the first time, and going on 4 years for the second round) of allergy shots, and am proud to say that i have pretty much kicked the horse allergy!
Anyway, due to the allergy issue, i don't have a lot of horse experience, though i have taken some hunter jumper lessons as well as done my fair share of western trail riding. So i am not the most horse-savvy person, but i would love to help out SAFE in any way that i can...i am not opposed to hard labor! Please let me know if there is anything i can do to help. It warms my heart to see that there are such a great group of people caring for these horses!

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the board and registered because I'm interested in volunteering with SAFE! My name is Jamie and I currently live in Seattle. Right now I have one horse plus his pasture buddy that live at my parent's place in Duvall. My guy's name is Rey, he's an appendix quarter horse. He's 25 now, I've had him since I was 10... That's 17 years!!! He's semi-retired now but we had many wonderful years of pony club and competing (mostly 3 day eventing). His pasture buddy is an adorable half miniature half shetland pony named Ruby. They are in love and are very co-dependant One of my inspirations for wanting to volunteer was my horse Seven. He was a rescue who became a wonderful and beloved part of our family. Sadly he passed away a few years ago but he left his mark and I feel so lucky to have been able to give him a loving home in his later years. I look forward to volunteering and getting to know everyone! Here are some pictures of the kids! Rey is they bay, Seven is the grey
