I am very pleased to announce that two more of the horses from the place Pie and Isabella came from are home and filling their faces with hay tonight. Kitty is a 5 year old AQHA mare, a daughter of two-time World Show Top Ten stallion GBF Pretty Coosa: www.ccssf.itgo.com/cal16.htm She was the next thinnest after Pie and Isabella, but after just a week of good hay thanks to the family members that are now in charge of the horses, looks much better already. She's obviously very wormy (rubbing her tail out) so that's the first priority for tomorrow, as well as a hoof trim on Sunday. Since she's so young and began regaining her weight so quickly, I don't think it will be more than a month to six weeks before she looks great again. Mister is our mystery. He is a 20+ year old AQHA stallion. We do not have his papers and no one seems to know where he came from. I have one of my weird feelings that he may be a really good horse who fell into bad hands, so I'm going to make it my job to find out exactly who he is. We're told he's well broke and rides nicely so after he has his feet done, all the general maintenance and hooves done, I will give him a try and we'll see what he knows. He appears to be pretty clean legged so hopefully he is riding sound. More tomorrow with pics. It was too dark tonight - the horses didn't get here until 11 PM!

Oooh, and I think I've got another Mason Cty. mare placed in a GREAT home/facility today...wish me luck, I'll update later. I'm heading over to take pics of Mister and Kitty now. This is Kitty a week ago - she has already gained back a bunch of weight as the family has been feeding the horses very well this week.

The saddlebred stallion is needing a home. Is he calling your name Leahlady? :-)

He is a cool horse! He is very smart and there is a lot of training there - I can already tell. And what a TROT. Great big trot. I'm actually excited to ride him once we get the feet done, teeth done and more weight on, though he isn't as bad as the mare. He will probably be good weight in 2 weeks.

Are you keeping Kitty? She will be so nice when all rehabbed.

Yes, Jellybelly is keeping Kitty. I have been chatting with her former owner. Her dam sold for $7500 in the AQHA World Show Sale.

Cat, I think I am learning something from your blog about conformation! When I looked at the picture of the stallion I noticed the slope of his shoulder and immediately thought, wow, I'd like to see his trot! Then, just a few posts down and you comment on his trot. I am learning. I've never been seriously into conformation before, good thing I've never bred anything and never will. I know what I like, but now I'm learning why. Thanks, Pam

Does the stallion rack? He is probably a beaty when he's all cleaned up.

Cathy, Bassett's adopter, Karen, is very into Saddlebreds. I'll cue her to this thread, maybe she can help identify him.
He looks saddlebred to me, too!
