Well, I went to the last Marysville auction today... there were some horses there that were bought by a canner (he freely admitted that's what he did to me). I eventually, with help of a friend, managed to buy one of the mares. They weren't to be moved until this weekend (maybe), I couldnt' let her stay there. I now have a very skinny, scared, very pregnant palomino mare here. Here's a few pics of her, she's really scared but calmer already... I'll post more pics tomorrow. We're having trouble getting her into the stall, but she's almost there... Her bags are full, there's a little bit of discharge and you can see the foal moving a bit, I think she'll foal in the next few days. I couldn't leave her there to foal with no food or water in an extremely dirty and messy pen... people disgust me sometimes...

First off I didn't see the bay there yesterday. They did have a lot horses still outside in trailers, that I couldn't see really well, but I don't think I saw him. I was all over that place. My friend and I were watering (stealing buckets from where ever we found them) and haying (stealing hay too) the horses and other animals. This mare had been on that lot since she was bought two weeks ago, fed or watered occasionally, whenever someone 'got around to it'. I think she's due anytime. I think she's just 'holding' the baby until she feels safer. She was very scared last night, but has calmed down today. At about 11 last night she took her halter off and was loose up top by the barn. My husband and I did the trail of hay bites to the stall and then the plywood fence to herd her into the stall. It took us three tries but around midnight we got her in there. Now I just need to figure out how to clean the stall with her in it. Here are some pics I took this morning. The marks all over her are from when they brought her in. I guess she came in with a load of studs, mares, foals, yearling etc. and they dumped them all in one pen. The studs were fighting, mares got beat up, foals got trampled, it was a mess until they got them all seperated. So, the horses that were left after that sale just sat there, no vet care for thier wounds, hay and water only occasionally... Well, I had to get that mare out of there. She's very close to foaling and it was a disgusting mess on top of it all. Anyway, here's the pics...

Thank you Rachelle...I am going to keep my fingers crossed for Daany and hope he got to a good home or that we stumble across him before the worst happens.
You are a stronger person than I...I would not have handled Marysville with the class that you were able to...but you did such great work, thank you again!!

I think I'n going to need some help getting a halter on her. I tried this morning and almost had it, but she was able to move away from me and that was it. She's doing ok, still has loose poo but I'm hoping it's from stress and that it stops soon, if it doesn't well the vet will be here tomorrow.

PAT on the back for you, Rachelle. I have a ton of respect for anyone who can brave the auctions - I don't think I could. And bless you for helping out this mare (and foal)!

Okay, bear w/ me, my computer is not working so I'm typing this on my phone.
First off - Success, she now has a halter on! It was tricky, took a lot of stretching and maneuvering, but we got it done.
I took pics today of her udder and can't post them from my phone, but it is SO much bigger than yesterday. I think she's real close to foaling.
The vet will be here tomorrow so hopefully she'll wait until after that to have it. I'm sleeping in my van at night to keep an eye on her, so if she foals I'll be there to help if needed. I'll keep u all posted, hopefully my computer will be fixed tomorrow.

I have a really strange question for you.
Does she have a large scar on the side of her vulva? She looks JUST like a mare I know.
