Thank you for the offer Janice! One day I'll definitely adopt, however I'm so far out of the horse loop that I'm afraid I don't know where to begin anymore. I'm taking babysteps and looking for a good barn to start taking refresher lessons at. Any suggestions??
Thanks again!

Yesterday I had occasion to be impressed with Little Miss once again. The 4th sounded like a war zone in our neighborhood, and Little Miss stayed cool, calm and collected. What a girl!

Well, Little Miss is on her way back to Jaime's, to get her up to speed on riding again. I had a tear as they pulled away - she is such a sweetie! I'm surprised she hasn't been snatched up yet - her movement fairly takes your breath away. My shoer watched her playing in the round pen and the first thing he said was whoa! dressage horse!!! But I think she is level headed enough to learn to go out on the trails, too. And she really wants to be your friend. An easy keeper, easy to be around, respects a single hot wire tape - can't say enough nice things about her. I'm going to miss my Little Miss!

I took Little Miss out for a ride on Saturday and leadlined my niece, Isabella, around the arena. She has really good energy and super cute movement. She isn't as sensitive as Cedar, and all I did was walk/trot, but she is a cute little thing. Jaime took some photos so watch out for those!

Jaime and I both rode Lil Miss yesterday and she did pretty good. She was not being a good gilr in the crossties so I put her in a stall to tack up. I think she was just nervous about the sounds coimg from the arena since Tessa was getting some exercise in there. Those mysterious sores on the front of her fetlocks appeared to be sore to touch, she didn't want me messing with them; but otherwise they cause her no grief.
She was fine once we got into the arena and lunged around for a bit. I hopped on and walked her around and did some trot circles, serpentines and figure 8's. Jaime had put Tessa away and came in to give her a try. I thought they made a lovely pair!

That's my "huntseat in a dressage saddle" look. Little Miss is just too cute for words, and she is not afraid of tarps!

I rode Little Miss yesterday!!! She was so, so, so good!! Good to tack up, stood pretty well to be mounted, very good under saddle!!
I tested her a bit to see what she knew; she understands leg and seat aids very well. She was halting from just my seat, and did head-to-wall leg yield perfectly both directions. She was very sensitive to my aids, responsive, and forward.
My conclusion is that she has had under saddle training - and I'm guessing it was western training (?). She seems to know about side passing and lateral leg aids, but not much about flexion and contact. (Although she did start to seek the bit nicely in the trot, especially to the right)
We did W/T/C both directions. She picked up both canter leads correctly from the trot, and was relatively balanced at the canter. We only did a few 20m circles both directions, but she didn't break until I asked her to trot.
I am excited to continue riding LM, she is very well behaved and has a lot of potential to be a Pony Club horse! She has such a good brain, and is so cheerful and willing to work. Someone will be very lucky to adopt her!

I so agree about Pony Club! She has such a good nature and, like Cedar, likes to be taken out and interacted with.

I rode Little Miss yesterday while Jaime rode Slam in the arena. She paid no attention to Slam riding around her and continues to be a nice quiet and forward little horse. She stood nicely in the cross ties, tacked up and lunged well, walked off when I hopped on so she still needs work there.
Then we headed for the trails behind the new pastures. Um, Little Miss was not amused. She started off OK, but when we got into the wooded areas she started to get nervous. So she broke into the trot, danced around, and lobbed a couple bucks at poor Slam when we turned around and he was behind her. She may have just been feeling clausterphobic, but she was overall nervous about being outside her comfort zone.
She relaxed once we got back to the open pasture and LOVED the hose down after I untacked her. She stood like a statue with her head low while I sprayed her off. Then on with her space suit (silver fly-sheet) and back to the pasture where she moseyed back towards the other mares to graze.
All in all, if she is to be a trail horse, she is gonna need some exposure. But she is the sweetest, quiet little thing in the arena!

She'd be such a good arena polo pony. She has amazing lateral movement...it'd be nothing to train her and I bet she would love it. It's a shame there isn't an arena club around here.
Is she going in leadline in the show? She was SO CUTE in those pics!
