This mare was also came from the King County Animal Control from a neglect situation. She is a 15h dark bay mare, with a small star and two hind socks. She is in decent shape despite her situation. She was quite lame on her front feet upon rescue but has improved since then, and it appears to be mainly sore feet. She does have strange callouses on her front fetlocks which could be from lying down on them for excessively long periods of time. We do not know how old she is yet - her incisors were excessively worn but she does not look like an old horse. No info on whether or not she has a tattoo yet, but we were told she is possibly a sister to Cedar County Queen. She is very sweet, friendly, and easy to handle. Due to the burrs in her tail, her tail was cut off. She is currently in foster care in Duvall, WA. Adoption fee: $600 Photo of front foot - note callous on front fetlock, and shelly, poor quality feet: Shown on left: and on the right in these photos: Her and Cedar County Queen wearing their donated blankets:

Dolce, but you've got the pronunciation right. I think that is a great name!

Do you think the callouses could be caused by hobbles?

cuuuttie!!
Sometimes they get rubs like that from lying down, rubbing the pasterns with the back feet.
She could be "Mocha" or "Cocoa". or if she's sassy, "Fancy" or "Diva".

She should be "Espresso" or "Java". Of course if you named the light bay "Queenie" than "Diva" would be good or "Princess"

I wanna call her Dolce! Please, please, please?! *pouting like a two year old* Kidding, lol. Dolce sprung to mind when I saw her photos cause she'll probably be a dark carmelly color when she sheds.

I don't have a problem with Dolce, it is cute. I kind of wanted to see if we could find out her identity first, from her tattoo. Then name her.

She is really a sweet horse, and the Rambo blanket that Jaime brought by today fits perfectly.
We cleaned up her little fetlock sores and another small cut she had on her knee and dabbed them with furacin. They don't seem infected. She stood to have them hosed off without much fretting and enjoyed a little brushing in the barn.
She is a little more reactive than Cedar County Queen, who is very low key, but I would be astounded if they are not closely related. They have the same head shape, the same tiny white star and a little snip on the nose.

Her name got shortened to Lil Miss by Mitch, Julie's son, because he didn't have room to write it out on the white board outside the stall.
She is actually starting to have a little shine to her coat. She has had one day last week when she was off up front - but my impression is it is either sore feet or those callouses. We'll see what Dr. Evergreen says.
Otherwise she is fine, has gone out on several "walkabouts" -- doing a little groundwork here and there.
She is super-sensitive and learns quickly - even things that are obviously new to her, like leading from the right side.
