Welcome Tatesmom!! It's such a relief to know that Ginger is on her way to recovery *S*, I have been very worried about her. She is such a sweet mare, thank you for being her guardian angel.

Thank you so much for letting us know that Ginger is feeling a little better. I was so upset to know that she wasn't doing well. I was just about to post to see if there was an update and here is was already. Thanks again and give her a big hug for me when you see her next.

Yes, WELCOME Tatesmom and thank you for the update on Ginger! She sounds like she is on the road to recovery. YAY!
I saw on the CBER board that she is on Tucoprim. I have a brand new (sealed) comtainer of it if you need more. One of my mares had an injury and vet left me extra- he didn't know I had some already. If you need more for Ginger, I am happy to send it along.
Thanks for taking such good care of her!

Thanks Amy, I bought two cans of it from the vet "ouch", but she needs a two week treatment. Everyday is an improvement with Ginger. I think the two cans are enough. She now looks forward to her mouth flushing, she just stands there and opens wide. My mare Tate got jealous, wanted the water syringe put to her mouth too. So, I did, she bite the syringe and moved on. They are so good for each other.

Thanks for the kind words about the stall, my boyfriend built that for Tate when I got her, he claims he is not a horse person, however he really is, he just loves Ginger. Since both horses dont like being confined to a stall, they walk in and walk out, they have a paddock surrounding it.

You boyfriend is really talented!! It's a beautiful shelter and looks like it is very functional (I like the shelter on the side). Thanks for the update on Ginger, I'm so glad she is feeling better!

Ginger was a bad girl today, and I loved it. She trotted away up the hill when she saw me coming with the syringe, she is getting her spunk back. She would allow me to come within a foot and trot off, over and over...That is great, because she was so lifeless and sad just 11 days ago. Also, she was very herd bound to Tate, I feed them separate, so, ginger would want to run to Tate, of course Miss Tate was always done eating first off to the pasture, well now ginger loves eating, so Neil and I chuckle because on her way to run to Tate, she stops to check if Tate by chance has left any grain or hay in her tub....so cute

Excellent! I am so pleased to hear she is getting the spunk back. Of course, it would be silly to trot past a buck, there may be a morsel in there. How cute!

Its now been a few months since Ginger has recovered from her sepsis, Also my farrier's trim has helped with the back foot, she no longer walks on the toe of her hoof. She is doing so good, she has gained about 70lbs, still needs more, but, we are pleased with her progress. She is no longer herd bound to Tate, so, I know she is very comfortable in her new home. She is such a joy to be around, and is the most trusting loving mare I've ever seen. Thanks again to everyone at SAFE. I took a few pics of her and Tate, but cannot figure out how to post them.
