Our girl has finally found her home! Here are a few pics from her last day at our place & with her new owner. Before our last ride together this am. With her new owner Therese. Calm, in the trailer ready to hit the road! On her way!

Ok... so, I'm not really the teary eyed sort... but really, what a wonderful thread this turned out to be. What a wonderful outcome for a mare who's first assessment was not sure that she'd ever make a riding horse. *sniff* She looks nothing short of amazing and I *love* her adorable new halter. How cute! *sniff* ;D

These are the happy endings/beginnings we dream of when we put our hearts into rescue. I'm not even among those who really put time into her but I know that everyone who's ever read her story, heard about her from someone else or had the pleasure of being a part of her world all agree that this is a fabulous outcome! I love the look Therese is giving her .... that's love!!

So, who gets the Kathleen treatment next? I think some of those beautiful saddlebreds need some trail miles. Or maybe an Arab. We have quite the choices available, Kathleen!

Haha, Whitewolf! My neck starts to hurt even thinking about getting on a proven bucking horse! Not to say that some part of my soul isnt intrigued by the thought of a challenge. I have quite a few irons in the fire right now so I have to get a few other things accomplished before the next soldier in my "boot camp" comes to visit... :-)

I got an email from Therese this afternoon giving an update on Whiskey after riding all the holiday weekend. Thought I would share.

Good morning Kathleen, Our weekend was good,my friends told me that Whiskey was a A+,beautiful with brain,we did find our selfs in a bad situation on a trail who was wrongly marked, she did not panic, was calm, but I was the one who did think my heart was going to jump out of my chest,we did have to turn around where it was extremely narrow and steep, she did great awesome, she good with my dogs on the trails, she will still throw her head up on air some time,I do put the blame on me also. She does like to stay under the overhang of the stable, and all will whinny if she does want attention or food.I was able to find the same bit you have use on her,but the bridle with a ear loop did not work,so I will look for a other one. I think with more riding her head will stay down all time. She is a great horse, you have done a really good job with her. I wish you a great week, and will keep you in touch with what happen. Take care,Therese.

Therese sent me a pic of Whiskey today. Sounds like she has been putting lots of miles on her and having a great time. Also, Whiskey likes to lay down and take naps. When she does the barnyard hen likes to stand on top of her and nap too!

I rushed home after the SAFE show Saturday night, got all my horse camping stuff packed up and headed to Salmon La Sac early Sunday morning to meet up with Therese, Whiskey, & friends for two days of riding and horse camping. It was great to see her and she is looking better than ever. I can tell she is getting a lot of riding because the muscles in her butt and neck are really filling out. Her top line is awesome and her attitude is great. When I pulled into camp I walked up to her and another horse tied to their trailer leisurely sharing hay out of a bag. Sunday we rode to the top of Jolly Mt (great views!) and Sunday we rode Polallie Ridge. Was GREAT to see and ride with her and her owner & friends!
