I love the picture of her in the water! Why does her lack of fear of water not surprise me?

K, you are doing such a great job with Whiskey - thanks for taking her to Duane and truly going the extra mile with her. (And thank you to him, too!)

This is such a far cry from the Whiskey I first met. She looks so comfortable and happy out there, I think this is her calling!!

Another good arena session today. Really doing well at going forward in frame now. Here are a few pics after we got home from the arena. Notice her head down and nose in? At a stop and at a walk with slack in the reigns. I will try to sweet talk Larry into taking another video tomorrow.

Last night we got back from 3 days of camping and riding at Burke Lake. Whiskey is a professional camper now. I brought my Paint horse, dogs, and baby. So we didn't get to ride in the big group like usual. Instead everyone would ride out in the morning then come back in the afternoon and babysit while I rode out. I had my friend Andrea (great rider, wonderful hands, etc.) come out to ride with me. I put her on Whiskey and I rode my horse. We had a blast. Rode down thru the canyons with their narrow, steep, rocky trails. To land with miles and miles of jeep tracks thru the sagebrush. I put Captain in to a lope and Whiskey gladly followed his example. We loped and loped, then we worked on trotting out. I have been thinking for a while that she just needs to get to a place she can trot for miles and miles. She loved it, got her head in a comfortable place for her and found a comfortable pace and trotted for miles. Then it was back up and thru the canyons to camp. She learned a lot about watching her foot placement and how to negotiate tricky spots in the trail. My friend got many nice comments on her and by the end of the trip she looked at me and said "you knew I would fall in love with her!". Whiskey really was a very good girl. Here are some pics. Whiskey and Andrea riding off with my friend Linda and her horse Bella. At camp. Coming down the "Dusty" trail. Captain and I. Relaxed, almost back to camp. Whiskey is very good at not being herd bound. She doesn't try to rush back to camp.

Awsome!!! I hope to get over to Burke Lake soon. So is Aundea going to adopt her? Someone should, they would be getting a great horse.

Somebody better take her soon....at the 4H show today it was Whiskey's picture that people kept stopping on in the SAFE Book! I did not hesitate to tell them how AWESOME she's been doing on her trail and camping adventures!
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that someone at that show ends up being interested in her....

Everytime I see how Whiskey is doing, I just break into a grin from ear to ear. That Dusty Trail picture, wow, it takes mutual trust between a horse and rider to go down a trial like this.
Whiskey looks like she really loves the trails. And it is great when you do not have a herd bound horse when you are out on the trails.
