We are happy happy happy to let you know that Dobbin's adoption has been approved, and Dobbin was delivered to his new home this evening! The adopter, Velma Thompson of Snoqualmie WA, told me that she saw the seizure horses on the TV and went to the SAFE website for more information. It was there that she first laid eyes on Dobbin, who bears an uncanny resemblance to a horse her daughter owned who passed away in his 30's. Velma and her family haven't had horses on their property for the last year or so, but they do have one very lonely cow who is completely accustomed to having horses for friends. Velma also has little grandkids who love animals and would really enjoy being led around on the back of a horse, something that Dobbin will excel at, I have no doubt. Here are some photos of Dobbin with one of his new friends: As for the cow, Dobbin was turned out with her, and he literally did not bat an eye at her presence. In fact, he immediately started grazing, while the cow stood behind him and stared at him. Dobbin was placed on a gift contract, but Velma made a donation of $120 to SAFE in hopes that eventually we could return to the auction where we bought Dobbin (for $120) and save another horse. The amazing part of this is that she had no idea that Dobbin was already a "pay it forward" horse....purchased with donations made to SAFE in honor of clearlybluebreeze's Odie, who passed away...another grand old gentleman like Dobbin. So I thought that was pretty neat.

What a very happy ending for Dobbin!!! Or should I say, a happy "beginning?" Great job for finding him such a nice home!

Such a perfect family for Dobbin, I hope we get updates on him regularly so we don't miss his wise old face! He and the cow are quite the pair

I got to meet Dobbin yesterday, before he steadfastly loaded onto Bonnie's trailer, and he didn't have an unkind word to say about anyone What a good-natured, un-grumpy old man he is!

Well, I'm guessing Dobbin doesn't think anything is too weird with the cow...she looks about the size of him anyway!
And wait, hasn't he lived with a llama too? He's getting all the farm animal bases covered!

Bonnie checked in on Dobbin recently. He is doing great and now has a new horse companion, another elderly chestnut gelding who apparantly looks just like him. The cow is apparantly completely enamored with Dobbin. Dobbin, of course, really could care less.
