Thanks everyone and yes wouldn't cams be cool ;D can't wait to send some pics. I was amazed how calm he was and is. My 2 of course were whinnying, bucking and running up and down the fence line tails all up lol. He didn't even pay them any mind, kinda like whatever, been there done that. I will keep them seperated for a couple of days or so till I know he is comfortable and then start to introduce them. they can visit across the fence for now:) I hate the fact that it is dark lol I want to go out and hang out with him. We have barn lights but I left it all open so he could go in or out and not feel trapped in some new strange place. He is so sweet I am already totally in love with him.

Well I went ahead and introduced everyone. He seemed so lonely And I could tell there was not going to be any issues. He is partial to Mariah my arab but she just gave a squeel and went about her way, Dakota on the other hand is love struck, literally lol, how do I put this delicately, she won't stop winking at him and doesn't comprehend that he is gelded lol. So at any rate they are all happy and getting along just fine

Hey Jamie Now that the weather is looking better, you should have a big BBQ at your place for the Ishy fans and we can all bring a dish to share. (and a big apple for you know who ) Try to get something going and let me know, I would love to come and see him. It's been a long time for me. I have been stuck in my chair with my bum knee, but it's getting stronger all the time. Back to business for me soon So fire up the barbie!!!! Summer is coming

There have been some exciting changes in Ishmael's life. Due to an impending military transfer, Dakota2Mariah made the difficult decision to rehome Ishmael rather than put him through the stress of moving somewhere like Kodiak, Alaska. We were all delighted when Bsnlark offered him a permanent home with her, along with SAFE horse Larkspur and her other mare Buckwheat.
Ishmael made the journey to Bsnlark's place yesterday. He walked right into the trailer like a pro. He started calling for his friends after he was all locked up and ready to go, but once we got on the road he calmed right down. I stopped a few times to check on him and he was fine.
When we arrived at Peggy's, Lark and Buck were waiting outside the fence to see the new boy. We led him into the paddock next to the barn so everyone could get acquainted over the fence. Lark was transfixed the moment she saw him. I don't know if she remembers him from Clayton's but she sure was happy to see him. We fed him carrots in the paddock and he got acquainted with Peggy a bit. He seemed very bright and interested in his new surroundings and his new friends, but he was also very calm and well behaved. Can I just say that this horse is a complete doll? He's both breathtakingly handsome and cute as a button, all wrapped up in a fuzzy white package. He is very sweet and gentle. A little scared, but he handled everything that went on that day so well.
We then turned him out in one of the pastures by himself, and he had a great time checking things out, walking around with his nose to the ground, and then to our complete joy, he felt comfortable enough to have himself a great big roll in the dirt. Peggy rolled an apple down the hill to him, and he ate it all up and stood around looking very self-satisfied.
So after a while, we decided that he should have a chance to meet Larkspur first and wait a bit before introducing him to Buckwheat the Boss Mare. So Peggy brought Lark into the pasture, and the two of them sniffed noses and then trotted off together. If you look at the photos, it looks like they were performing a pas de deux, they walked around for several minutes in perfect step with one another. it was adorable. Then Larkspur's broodmare instincts kicked in and it turned into a game of Ish trying to walk politely away from her and her following him everywhere he went. That was so low key that we decided to let Buckwheat in on the fun. Well she immediately decided that she was also in love with Ish, so he had two females chasing him around (at the walk, mind you). This went on for quite a while, until finally all three of them settled down for some peaceful grazing. They are a great looking herd - the bright white with the rich bay and the sorrel.
SAFE is very grateful to Dakota2Mariah for taking such good care of Ishmael over the last year. Ishmael blossomed in her care, and made great progress towards being less afraid of humans and learning to be handled.
We are also very happy that Bsnlark has opened up her wonderful home to Ish. We know he will be safe and happy with you!! Thank you SO much.

the "girls" and i wud also like to thank dakota2mariah . if Ish hadnt gotten such a good start w/ you this transition wouldnt have gone as smoothly.
Lark would actually duble thank you, she is quite smitten w/ the white, well actually now the pewter, one. they are constntly together. This morning Ish went out and proceeded to roll. He gets up, shakes, takes a small walk, returns to "the spot", lays down and proceeds to roll on his othr side. so now are both equally grey, the only sparkly white area left is right at the tip top of his tail.
the stall arrangements are, Buckwheat ( red dun da dun dun, 24 yrold BOSS mare ) in stall both front/bk doors shut. she gets out and there will be no food left in the county.( shes got water in her stall) Lark is in the middle stall, inside door shut, door to outside open. no water bucket in stall, lousey housekeeper, all those children drove her to poop in her water bucket no matter how high i hang it.. then Mr ish is right next to lark, his back door is also open but he has a fence around his patio..so they whisper between / over the walls of their stalls, and Lark hangs out her back door under the porch cover talkn w/ Ish over the fence rail.so i think they might be sharing old times and where have you been stories ....( ish has water in his stall ).
so this evening he was compfy enuf for me and my apple to enter his domain while he was eating and brush him out ..so tonite both Ish and Lark have their bathrobes on and are going to settle in for a Coyote Concert................ ;D

well, its been almost 2 weeks w/ the girls and Ish is kinda been left on his own. Even Larkspur ( and Buckwheat ) who was following him around endlessly the first 3-4 days has decided that he cant come near THEIR hay. He is such a kind and gentle man that he just stands by and waits or wanders off. so becuz of the above mentioned food problem ( previous post ) ive had to try diff methods of making sure both Ish and Lark get their 2 full feedings of grain & supplements..so far, my rountine is to get up at o dark early ( 4:30-5 am ) and dole out the 6 lbs ea grain to Ish and Lark and a lil smidgeon for Buck ( after all she can smile ) and leave them locked hin their stalls. then i wheelbarrow abt 9-12 flakes of hay out to the pasture and make 3 separate piles far far away from each other. then i sneak bk to bed for an hr while theyre munching in the barn. after abt 90 mins i go bk down to the barn and let them out . So, yesturday, im thinking* ok, this mite work out ok *...Until i got home at 7 pm.....And there was Ish standing outside the barn by himself...I get down to the barn and see that Miss Planner here, had forgotten to close the outside door from Larks stall to the outside................... Now that wudnt have been so bad, but i also forgot to close her inside stall door !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to the inside so guess who was in the barn , out of the cold, warm, no wind, and all the hay one , no make that two horses cud ever want,,! Aaand who was being a good boy out in the cold ? ISHMAEL ! ;D soooooooooo, who got his stall cleaned and his dinner first ?? w/ bonus portions , of course , ISHMAEL !!!!!!!! Buckwheat is usually pawing at the ground and making her funny smile while im getting food ready, but last night neither she or Lark made a fuss...............they were toooooooooooo full and sated , and i think i almost caught Buck nodding off while waiting for her bed to be turned down and the mint put on her pillow... my main concern now is to keep Ish happy w/ hay during the day, but w/ all the rain that s coming because im afraid the girls will keep him out of the covered area while they hog the hay.. he has a stall w/ a covered turnout where i cud keep him to make sure he has food.. im such a worrier, if i keep himin that area doesnt guarantee that he'll EVEN eat the hay and id hate to keep him locked up everyday it rains so any suggestions on the situation or comments to keep an ol ladymom from fretting too much feel free.........................thx

Peggy, you are so conscientious. One thing you might try is making 6 or 7 piles of hay, instead of 3 - then there's no way Buck can guard all of the hay and drive Lark and Ish away... (oh so easy in the dark, rain and mud ) Those girls sure are problem-solvers!
